I took JEE mains 2013 and got all India rank(AIR) 245768 and state rank 9432. I choose orissa engineering college because it is one of the oldest college in the eastern region and it gives good campus placement. The admissions process is very simple you just need to register yourself in bput website and need to lock your first choice as OEC and if you are eligible your name will be shortlisted in the bput website as well as in college.

I chose computer science engineering as I want to be an it professional because this sector has many job opportunity. The course curriculum of my branch is very swift and easy. There are also other elective also like mechanical,electrical,Electronics and telecommunications,civil,information and technology engineering branches respectively.

There are many companies come to the college each year for internships. But the core companies are TCS,Zyacus and infosys(only off campus). There are also other companies which come each odd year like Tech mahindra,Wipro etc. The number of companies coming are increasing over the years. The particular sum salary that the core companies give are TCS-2.6lakh per annum, ZYACAUS- 4.5lakh per annum and the other companies stipend vary according to their need and job vacancy.

The placement of OEC is topclass and probably the best in the state. Each year nearly 220-240 students get placed in different companies and the numbers are just increasing. I am also hearing from my seniors that this year nearly 180 students got placed in TCS only which is remarkable. The companies that are coming to the college are TCS,ZYCAUS,WIPRO,TECH MAHINDRA,ORACLE etc. The packages each of the above companies give is around 2-5lakh per annum and varies company to company.

OEC organizes two festival each year along with many mini fests. The two main fest are Tech fest named Zazen,cultural fest named zaphyer. Each of the two fest are holded in the span of two weeks during month of February each year. The tech fest is for students to so their engineering skills and build unique things and the cultural fest is dance,ramp walk,drama etc. Many bollywood singers have come to perfrom in the cultural fest like kk,abhijeet majumdar etc and grace the occasion.

The fee structure is quite simple and affordable in comparison with other engineering colleges. In the 1st year you have to pay rs 78000 for academics fee rs 15000 for transportation fee and rs 5000 as security fee and there after for next 3 years you have to pay rs 93000 excluding fee. The hostel fee is rs45500 each year.

Oec provides scholarship for Sc,St ans OBC students those who have secured more than 72%in both 10th and 12th board exams respectively. In addition it has also scholarship for toppers of ech branch in a calendar year of rs 5000 each.

The campus is big and lush green. There is playground and sports activities, music activities rooms. There is no intolerance with regards to any relegion,gender,race or cast. It has one of the best campus atompshere in the entire state.

The seniors are great they help you a lot if some mishap happens to you. The alumni is also nice as in they come ech year before the placements and motivate you on how to crack the interviews and internship.

The exam schedule is quite relaxing as their will be two semesters in each of the 4 year course. Alongwith internals of 15 mark each twice are held before each semester. The lab work is not much with only 3 labs in a week and one can muss a one or two lab
