Remarks

Needs more infrastructure and faculties. Also different professional courses should be introduced. College canteen can be improved to a huge extent. There is no wifi in the college which is a necessity nowadays.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course structure is above average with more importance on getting marks. Research is not focused upon in the graduate level. Internal exams conducted by the college are held in the midst of each semester which contributes to 20% of the marks in the final. Finals consist of theory papers and practical papers. Examination is pretty chilled, I only had two exams to sit in a semester - internals and finals with sufficient gaps to study between each papers. Daily classes were hectic though, with classes stretching to the evening because of lab classes.

Placement Experience

0.5

There is no placement and job opportunities or internship offered in my college and the student career counselling dept. is defunct. They are not much interested in these regard this is very much true for most of the colleges in Assam.

College Events

4.5

The college holds an annual fest where everyone is welcome to participate. Sports, cultural, competitions are organized for the whole week. Cultural processions are also taken out. During Durga Puja, the college is decorated as it has one of the most reputed puja pandal in the city, right outside the gate. People throng the college during the puja days.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible for most of the courses as the college is funded by the government. Fees was around ?6000 for every year with extra fees around ?1000 for examination every semester. Extra fees would be incurred if a students attendance falls below 75%.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't know about scholarships offered by my college. But the state government and central governments offes them for merit and backward communities. The highest scholarship I have seen offered by the state govt. was around ?8000 per year. It varies among different backward communities.

Campus Life

3.5

Pretty limited extracurricular activities. The college has only one basketball court and an indoor badminton court in the auditorium. Their are teams for cricket, they play at the state level. Gymnasium is defunct. College has a student union that organizes various events throughtout the year. Gender ratio is skewed towards boys. Tolerance is practised. We also had the first openly lgbtqi+ student in the college. Their is no animosity amongst races or gender. Politics is prevalent amongst the student unions, the departments and the teachers. They raise their voices and will join protests if needed for the country. Eg - CAA issue in Assam. Economical status I would say above average.

Hostel Facilities

3

No I did not opt for a hostel as I lived in my home. Hostel facilities are basic with standard shared rooms and bathrooms. No wifi facility. Food quality is something to be desired for. Hostel fees is extra over and above the admission fees paid every year.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, the college has an extensive alumni network. I am still connected to my teachers and classmates. The college and departments organises alumni meets every year. The seniors were very helpful during my course of study. Helped me in my studies and other things.

Admission

I chose my course because I was good at it(biology). I also had the option of going for the medical field but I decided it was not for me and I wanted to do something different. Admission process - Admission process is relatively easy. Students are admitted on the basis of their Percentage obtained in higher secondary exams with emphasis on reservation quotas. Process was held in the auditorium where the eligible percentage s would be called out one by one and we had to go and submit our documents and admission fees. If seats are left out after admission a second round would take place someday. For honours degree we have to submit forms to the interested departments after admission, where an entrance is held and students are selected for the honours course based on merit.

Faculty

4

Most of the faculty are qualified and interested. Some are very friendly and helpful to the students. Though there are some faculty who are lethargic and lazy in teaching, very rude for no reason. The younger faculties are considered more friendly and helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was a major factor that influenced my decision to choose this course, as it is well-structured and offers a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. The syllabus covers essential concepts in a systematic manner, starting from the basics and gradually advancing to more complex topics. The inclusion of practical sessions, assignments, and project work made the course appear relevant and aligned with current academic and professional requirements. This thoughtful design assured me that the course would help in developing analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and subject clarity, which are important for both academic growth and career development.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Areas for improvement: more industry collaborations, guest lectures, and hands-on projects. Some subjects feel outdated and could be updated. Teaching methods could incorporate more interactive sessions and case studies. Exams are held semester-wise, with a mix of easy and challenging questions. Difficulty level is manageable with consistent effort. Frequency is okay, but sometimes feels rushed. Overall, the curriculum provides a solid foundation, but could benefit from more flexibility and modernization to better prepare students for the industry.
