Old is Gold

I always admire the freedom that our institute provides us to choose our choices and also the freinds of different places who are quite good with me and I learnt tons of things during this college time.

The course curriculum in my branch is changed 2 times during 41/2 years time in the college. They are improving the course contents and introducing new elective courses for giving students new dimensions to explore.

IIT BHU Varanasi is well known for its placement session. Atleast 5-6 memebers will be offered more than 1 crore per annum packages (which are international offers) and also the circuital branche (computer science, mathematics, electronics and electrical) students receive heavy packages and with 100% placement record also. Electrical and Electronics brances also receive many core placement opportunities. And when we talk about remaining 13 branches everyone will get a fair chance to compete with circuital branches and many people receive more package offers than them. And also each branch will get atleast 4-5 core companies so they can pursue their career in core feild. Apart from these some of the PSUs also visits campus hiring a good number of people as per their requirements.

The fee is recently increased it is about 1. 2 lakh per semester for BTech and IDD people. But if your family income is below 5 lakhs then you need to pay half amount and if it is below 1 lakh your fee will be around 6000 per semester. This is about the general and obc category students. The fee for SC/ST students is around 6000 per semester only. For some students it is quite expensive but for many of students it is feasible. Apart from this they will charge a mess fee of 12000 per semester which is quite feasible.

As their is less fee option on income basis, the merit cum means scholarship is removed. But students have plenty of other scholarship options which are quite handful. Institute itself doesn't provide any loan but many banks offer student loan as they belong IIT. And also the interest rate is zero for this type of loan.

Gender Ratio is quite poor 2 years ago being just only 1:10 (girls: boys). But central govt introducing girls reservation has improved the gender Ratio now. A 15% girls reservation is on action. Student diversity is quite a lot. We see students from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to eastern states. There is no ragging and no race, religion, gender disputes. Institute assigned strict rules and also the security in the institute is quite good. So no harmful actions done to date.

IIT BHU has 100 years data of alumni, many alumni meet been held in and out of campus. The alumni helps for the development of facilities in the campus and also helps students to go abroad for their internships and further studies. A perfect guidance will be available with a huge alumni network where we can find in every corner of the world.

I have gone through 2 phases, JEE mains which is required for qualification for next stage which is JEE Advanced. Then I have got 4837 AIR rank in JEE Advanced which helped to achieve Civil Engineering with specialization in structural engineering which is a integrated dual degree (IDD) course where you can receive BTech+Mtech degree simultaneously after 5 years.

The faculty of IIT BHU is amazing. As the institute is well established before 100 years, we can expect the old professors with tons of experience be there. And they do not disappoint us in terms of subject knowledge. Perhaps one flaw is institute faculty needs to explore new ways to teach rather than using conventional way of teaching, this is been carried out by recent recruited faculty. So in few years we get a dimension in teaching also.
