Why should I opt for IIEST

Students have to fight for their rights and deserved welfare sometimes. This is a noteworthy con and every other student can explain it in their own way.

Course curriculum is pretty fulfilling although it will be a good choice not to fill for Aerospace engineering. Exam structure consists of two semesters in each academic year, and also two internal exams prior to the end sem. The profs are kind of strict about the attendance but depends on how liberal the prof is about your performance in class.

More than 100 companies visit our campus. The detailed list is available everywhere on google, college website, quora or even our fb page IIEST placements. To name a few, companies like Microsoft, L&t, Vikram Solar, Tata steel, Tata power, Vedanta etc visit our campus.

Technical fests, Cultural fests, Sports events, etc mark the second half of the year. The most noted event is our cultural fest REBECA (must know the full form before interacting with seniors) which is a four night long event, studded with stars starting from Rupam Islam, Zubin Nautiyal, UA, local train. The list never ends.

It is feaseable for family even from lower middle class strata but the student will have to be cautious about the expenditures outside the ledger book. That is sometimes friends together decides to have a party and celebration and all which sometimes can turn out to be expensive and it is the student who has to be in total control.

There are fee waivers as directed by MHRD rules, people having family income less than 5lakhs get 2/3 fee waiver and those below 1 lakh study at an extremely subsidized rate. Apart from that, there are some scholarships for reserved catagory students which follows.

We have two full sized grounds (named Lords and Oval) where we play cricket and football, also every hostel has its own badminton and volley court, there is a basket ball court, swimming pool also indoor game provisions like table tennis, carrom. All sports equipments are provided by college itself.

Hostels are pretty good especially the 1st yr hostel and final year halls. Upto 2nd year, four students are alloted in a room and in pre final and final year, a student gets his individual room. For girls in pre final and final year two students reside in a room. Single rooms are provided only if you stay far from home.

Being the oldest college in Bengal, IIEST has an extremely extraordinary alumni base to help you out in immense need or also as a guide. The alumni or senior interaction has been very fluid for me and the experience depends on person to person. Being a college, people of different mind set resides together so not every senior might appear good but they are not monsters either.

JEE MAIN score can get you this IIEST Earstwhile BESU. Being a college of national importance it comes under the tire of NITs. I am currently in Civil Engineering and my jee rank was 27222. The fastest filling streams are CST, ME, ETC and EE.

The faculty base is quite rich in my branch. Of course there are a few profs not worthy of teaching the students, but the scene is same in every other institute throughout the country and cannot be changed as there is no student union or a political body here. No political body has both good and bad side which will depend on which side of the table you are on.
