Chemical Engineering from Jadavpur University

Jadavpur University is reputed institute all know and it is also known as place where students have much freedom to express themselves. Taking a stand of something, they also sometime stand against government.

Jadavpur University is one of the top engineering institute in India. It is compared with many top IITs. It has a huge reputation. Since it is a state government college it don't have much fund as that of IITs. but the quality of research are of best standard. it dont have updated machines in laboratory but even after that it manage it's top position in competition.

Placements are very good here. And even if you are an average student you will definitely have a job. If you are in CS, ELECTONICS, IT Dept. then you will get 100% job. For other departments it varies from 60-80% which again is a very good figure. In chemical dept. companies like Honeywell, vedanta, reliance, cipla, hpl, Foster wheelers, Berger paints, MN dastoor, capgemini, TCS, saint gobains and many more come here for hiring. The avg package provided here is 5. 5-6. 5 lacs per annum.

U-turn,sanskriti, trajectory, chemathlon, chem-innova, Hultz prize and many more. There are many departmental events which occurs every year. Students from various colleges come and participate here. Our Sanskriti fest is asia's longest running event recorded.

Negligible, the engg. fees of Jadavpur University is least in India. So you don't have to worry about that. I paid only approx 12k for my 4 years for academics. And if you get hostel too here (seats are very limited here) then you hardly have to pay anything.

You don't have to take loan here as the fees is negligible here. atound 10-12k for four years (engg., Except IT). Even if you think that you cannot pay this then there is scholarship scheme where you can get rid off from this money. other scholarship scheme from ABB is also there who provide money to needy and brilliant students.

The culture is very disverse here. Different community of people come and study here, even foreigners. If I combine all arts,science and engineering streams then gender ratio is pretty much 50:50 here. There are many students union parties as well as there many clubs for students like mountaineering club, dance club, singing club, NSD, NCC, drama, photography and many more. Different class of people study here as the fees here are negligible.

Hostel are pretty much good. It is neither excellent nor bad. You will enjoy. Good wifi connection you will get as it is in main city Kolkata. Since hostel seats are very limited you may have to go in PGs. Hostel charges including meal is approx. 1700. And avg. pg charges excluding meal is 1. 8-3k.

Yeah our alumni are much supportive and they are sitting in well top notched reputed company. We also every year organise reunion like thing where we get chance to interact with them. Most of them are very helpful. They will guide you for ur job and even recommend you to some companies if they have some source with them.

To get into this college you have to clear WBJEE exam. I choosed chemical engineering since I was very good in chemistry and all. I love the job profile for this branch, hence I went for chemical engineering.

Very well qualified. Professor are from ISRO, and top colleges from US, Britain, Canada etc. Apart from few few professors who are bad in teaching, approx 70% professors are very good and knowledgeable.
