Remarks
The college management is quite good compared to previous years and they listen to the students and solve our problems. I'm quite satisfied with the management and I haven't had any issues or trouble with it.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was detailed and easy to understand but it was not completely up to date. The curriculum had many holes in it as it was most of the time theory-based and the practical part of the industrial knowledge wasn't provided. And there were very few industrial visits throughout my engineering life(around 2).
Placement Experience
The placements weren't good previously, but the college and the management have taken certain steps and it has improved a lot with respect to previous years. Placement training was provided from 2nd year to help us with our placements. Almost 80% of the students are placed every year, and this year it has increased. Companies like, hp, Mindtree, halodoc, Accenture, etc have coke for recruitment. The college didn't specifically help us with our internships as we had to search for them on our own after the end of 3rd year. The general steps recruitment are usually aptitude test or coding test, group discussion, technical round and HR round.
College Events
The college hosts a college fest every alternate year and everybody participants actively in all kinds of events and the students take up the responsibility of handling the whole fest. There's also sports meet help every year between the nie colleges and it's really good. There are few technical events like workshops arranged by the college every semester and it's really helpful for gaining knowledge outside academics, and this year our college has hosted IEEE events and has taken a huge step for the betterment of the institution.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is rather expensive than it used to be when I had first joined the college. The fees for kcet seats are the same for all the branches and it is around 62500, and for comedy and management seats is around 150000. The fee is paid in the form of DD addressed to NIEIT. The college provides transparency in their fees structure and the college fees are included with the set fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college provides scholarship opportunities for the students coming from backward classes like sc, st and OBCs. I wasn't applicable for the scholarship as I belonged to general category.
Campus Life
The college is quite diverse and I think there are more women compared to men, as I'm from E&C, there is more number of women than men and it's the same for CS, IS and EEE, as for mechanical there are only men and 2 or 3 women in few batches. The student diversity is very much as many students are from various other districts and I myself am from West Bengal, and there's no discrimination among gender, status, caste or religion and it's a good environment to be in.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni of the college were really helpful and friendly, and they've provided us with helpful information related to academics and non-academics.
Admission
I secured a seat in this college with the help of kcet. I chose Electronics and communication firstly because I had a certain interest in knowing the electronic components and communication part in our daily lives, and secondly because I didn't like other branches compared to this branch, and I chose this college firstly because of my rank and secondly cause it was a sub-branch of the reputed college NIE. The steps for admission are, 1. Secure a rank in kcet. 3. Counseling is done for document verification. 2. Online selection of seats with respect to your rank. 4. Paying the fees online after allocation of the seat. 5. Visiting the college and confirming your seat.
Faculty
The facilities in my college were really knowledgeable and really friendly which made the learning interesting and fun at the same time. Electronics and communication have a total of 10 lecturers and the average age would be 40. Every lecturer was really knowledgeable in their respective fields and they were able to answer almost all of the doubts we had. Among the 10, 2 of them are Ph.D. holders and almost all of them had industry experience.
