Remarks
There are mostly good remarks as in no other private can cope up with VIT at this moment and also the campus orientation proves as such. The world outside is colourful and great for a student to study well and flourish in his career.
Course Curriculum Overview
In the present curriculum, we have to complete 180 credits to get our degree. In every semester there are 3 digital assignments, projects, 2 CATS (Continuous assessment tests) and 1 FAT (Final assessment test). The faculties are very helpful and also because of the FFCS (Fully flexible credit system) you can choose your own faculty for the particular in the particular semester.
Placement Experience
Many great MNCs like Google, Microsoft, IBM, Reliance come for placements equivalent those in IITs and NITs. Also, they hire in bulk which also reduces the level of incompetence and also there 100% placement record for the last 5-6 years. The companies are divided into 3 levels of SUPER DREAM (>10 LPA), DREAM (4.5-10 LPA) AND REGULAR (<4.5 LPA). Most of the students are hired in a dream and regular strata.
College Events
Since there are many clubs and chapters in the colleges, many events are organised on the campus. Our tech-fest TechnoVIT is nationally renowned and oriented. Our cultural-sports fest, Vibrance is a 3 day internationally organised event which is famous internationally. Students from 90 countries participate in the event. We have many cultural clubs like Music club, dance club, dramatics club, debsoc, litsoc and so on which are active and run by students and faculties.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is divided into 2 groups and 5 subgroups. Group A has EEE, CIVIL, ELECTRONICS. GROUP B has MECH, CSE, IT. Subgroups are category 1,2,3,4,5. Category 1 is for rank holders (1-20000) in VITEEE and after 20000 falls under the other categories from 2-5 and fees varies in all the categories. According to the facilities and standard of living provided to each and every student, the fees are worth it and far fetched from any other private college.
Fees and Financial Aid
No, I didn't apply for loan or scholarship. But the students who rank themselves between 1-20000 in VITEEE are provided with the scholarship by the institute itself. Also, they have to perform academically in their curriculum to retain their scholarship every year.
Campus Life
There are arrangements made for birthday parties in the hostels if anybody wishes to celebrate a friend's birthday. Gender-ratio is what u would expect in an engineering college but it is fairly improving every year. Also the quality intake is improving rather than people entering through Management quota. Many intra and inter level competitive exercises and competitions are held in and around the campus which keeps the students occupied amidst the hectic curriculum.
Hostel Facilities
Great food and accommodation with cooperative hostel managers and wardens. It is strict in terms of in and out timings otherwise it is very favourable towards a student. Great hygienic practices all around the place with daily cleaning and laundry available (paid services). No compromise disciplinary-wise is done in the hostel.
Alumni/Alumna
The VITAA (VIT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION) is very strong in terms of the country. There are many great personalities nationally and abroad who are known to be VIT Alumni. They are very helpful and cooperative and also never hesitate to help a brother cope up.
Admission
I chose B.Tech because of my instinct towards learning using logic. I joined VIT Chennai for the fact that it had a good set Electrical branch faculties. A good campus, great hostel food (not bragging) clubs and chapters, great seniors and also one unique feature of this college is that there is no ragging at all. The application of VITEEE opened during the November period and the exam was after boards in April.
Faculty
In our department we had 38 full-time faculties and 7-8 lab assistants. Also we had a quite a number of research scholars who would help us with our curriculum and also learn simultaneously. All the well qualified PHd holders and experienced and helpful. No one has feelings of superiority of them being a senior faculty. Everyone is friendly and cheerful.
