Remarks
The college is pretty good on the city level, if you are an average student who has a low rank, you can join it, with your efforts you will reach a good position no doubt about that. The college is just average considering all others in the country. The management is just alright too. The main critic that the college has is the university it comes under. The VTU disappoints from time to time.
Course Curriculum Overview
The teachings provided by the college are on par with any other institution of the country. They all have more or less the same syllabus for an electrical branch. The teachers are good, so it's not such a big of a headache. All opportunities are given to the student to be more research-oriented, there are many functions in the college promoting the same. Though if you take the curriculum and compare it with the world it's lacking for sure.
Placement Experience
-From this year, as stated above the bigger brother institution i.e. NIE and NIEIT have been doing centralized placements. Hence, the placements have gone up considerably. The number of companies visiting this year was around 100+, of course, I cannot name all of them but noted companies like Simens, Infosys, Wipro, TCS, HPE, Thought works, Huwaei, etc.
College Events
There are many events that are celebrated. Most of them are technical and project-based. From paper presentations to Technical talks, most of them are pretty good. There is also a fest that is done annually, it's not very big and pompous like one has for other bigger colleges, but its very fun. There are also sports activities, they are also promoted heavily. There is a big event on that too.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee is a little controversial part actually, for the people who are getting seats from CET the fees are much lower it's about one-third of what I am paying who got the seat from COMEDK. The college accepts fees in the form of DD or NEFT. One has to pay the fee to comedk which changes every year, so keep an eye on that, for me, it was 50K to COMEDK and 1.3 lakh to the college in first year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, there are, for the people of a lower category or in cast and money or Army quota but you must be enrolled through CET, only then one is eligible for any kind of scholarship. You are not eligible for any monetary benefits if coming from COMEDK you will be treated as a management quota student. Since, I am don't belong to any of these I have no idea, what's the process of getting it.
Campus Life
Campus life is alright not that out of the world experience, pretty average for the most part. Since the college is almost out of the city, there's nothing to do much around the college. The gender ratio is pretty good it's about 40:60. There are almost no student parties, only one when in fests that too with many restrictions. Mysore is not such a party hard kind of place. The student diversity is very less, as most of the students are Native of place around.
Alumni/Alumna
There is no such network in NIEIT, but there is one in NIE which is very functional. The only network present in this college is the one you have personally with your senior.
Admission
The admission is through COMEDK and CET, former for students who don't live in Karnataka while CET for later as we know it, is for the students living in Karnataka. The fee structure from both the entrance is very different though. It's about 55k to 60k for the people from CET while about 1.9 lakh for people from COMEDK. Well, studying electrical is what I wanted so, I took EEE from this college.
Faculty
Well, the course is much lengthier than other unis for sure. the semester runs around about 20 weeks. So, there is a pretty good number of lectures in the week from Monday to Saturday. The average age of teachers must be around the late 20s to mid-30s. It's a fairly young team. The HOD is the oldest of all, the late 30s to mid-40s. Most of the teachers are very qualified in their fields they know their subjects very well and can explain it very properly, leaving the few of course who don't.
