Remarks
The college is far better than any other private colleges of Odisha and is equally comparable to other good state govt. run institutes. The college management needs to bring continuous change in order to benefit the students. In ky opinion, some areas like Alumni Network and Placement club needs a lot of improvement.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure has been formulated by BPUT i.e Biju Patnaik University of Technology. It is accredited by NAC and is similar to the course structure of any other reputed college of India like IITs and NITs. Yes, the curriculum is groomed to provide both industry-specific and theoretical approach. Yes, there are proper industrial visits for all different years.
Placement Experience
The placement is fairly ok in our college. Almost all the IT sector based company like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, etc recruits every year. Some core-based company like Vedanta, Tata BSL, JK Paper, Jindal also recruits. Only a few students around 20 are placed in Core sectors. But a large number of students get hired by It sector firms. Yes, the institution provides skills, personality development classes and mock GD&PI sessions to all 3rd and 4th-year students.
College Events
A lot of departmental functions, as well as college fest, takes place annually. IGIT's college fest known as Horizon ( Techo-Cultural) has a very popular fan following among the students all over Odisha. Other college fests include Samudbhawa (Science fest), Anweshan (Literary fest), Funfest, etc. The departmental fest includes Vairabha ( Production Branch), Vistar (ETC Branch), Cosmitto (Civil Branch), Quimica (Chemical), Adamantium ( Metallurgy ) n Incognito ( Electrical Branch ). The functions are generally held in even semesters.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is very nominal and is affordable for every student. The college charges only 30K annually for all specialised B.Tech courses. The college used to accept payments by Challan system but now has developed Net Banking n other Online means to accept payments. No other additional fees in any means are to be provided by the student to college throughout the complete course. Hostel fees are charged by respective hostel authority.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, the college offer scholarships but are very rare like hostel fees redemption and course fee redemption to very needy n rare cases. The college students can apply for scholarships like Medhabruti, Prerana and can get a handy amount annually. The scholarships are completely based on academic merit n economic conditions of the family. The average sum of scholarship provided is 10000 - 15000 per year. Any student can also avail educational loan as the college is reputed one.
Campus Life
The best part of the whole college is its college life. Obviously, as in another technical institute the gender ratio is high for boys. The college campus is situated in a remote area so the students form a great culture of intermixing among themselves and spend their time very socially throughout the 4 years of Course. There are Dance, Music, Robotics, Photography, Sports and literary clubs in college. No such religious or race baised politics or student politics makes the college environment even more adorable and loving. Competitions are organised by Sports, Literary n Quiz clubs regularly.
Alumni/Alumna
There is a good touch with alumni of the college. This is highly helpful at the time of conducting fests and placement drive in college. Although there is a lot of scope for improvement in this area. The college authority and student association have already started taking great initiatives in making it possible.
Admission
As it is a decent institution under State govt of Odisha so it has a good reputation within Odisha. I had appeared JEE pre to enter into IGIT. I had a strong interest in Physics so I opted Mechanical Engineering thinking of some resemblance. The institute does Document Verification and Hostel allotment on the basis of merit list of All India JEE rank.
Faculty
A tentative number of lecturers in our course is about 30. The average age is around 40. They have all qualified their master's degree from IITs and NITs. Some professors have done PhD from foreign too. Yes, they have a good hold and expertise in their respective subjects. Only a few lecturers hold relevant industry experience.
