Remarks
Management always claims no major improvements could be done for the college due to lack of funds from MHRD, but somehow the influx that we get is used for unnecessary spending of constructions like barricades in an academic block inside college instead of investment in labs and hostels.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is not concurrent, there isn’t a flow in the curriculum, subjects with prerequisites are taught well before in the years and those with minimal importance are also given high credits. Masters students are the highest pity of IIITDM for this matter.
Placement Experience
The placements are high sky-high for each and every student for the computer science dept. Electronics students are forced into computer companies eventually.
College Events
Samgatha, Meraki, epoch that’s all. Nothing more fancy. There are sports tournaments inside college itself. The sports dept don’t encourage students to go for outside competitions nor host any. This is large because of the fact that the management encourages pure academics.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees they charge are acceptable for the amazing hostels and the college acceptable mess but definitely not justified for the quality of education, professors, labs that are available. Most profs do not have an experience of teaching yet they are recruited into this high ranking institute.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers scholarships only for a student from SC and ST. Again here the college claims for ‘no funds’ but ultimately we know where the funds go.
Campus Life
Campus life is beautiful, the sunset, the sports amenities, the cultural clubs, the intra college and inter-college fests that are held every year. Though IIITDM isn’t very encouraging about students participating in events or even winning perhaps, they are not consolidated, they are not chuffed etc. It’s purely on the student's interest. College doesn’t encourage this.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni comes in handy only for the funding of cultural fears. Since most of the courses are not up to the industry, especially from a student who is from electronics dept, it’s not enough so most students adopts for high studies.
Admission
I took up this course mainly because it had a booming scope in the coming 10-15 years. I’d say upon my completion of 5 years in IIITDM, the VLSI knowledge gained is not even 10% of what’s required in the industry. The entire dept of VLSI doesn’t aim to provide the right knowledge to students.
Faculty
The computer dept faculties are all well trained, well taught, and highly educated. Same goes with mechanical dept but for electronics it’s different, they aren’t very supportive for the students to do projects outside, neither are they qualified enough. There’s barely 1-2 prof in the dept who thinks from the student's development angle.
