Remarks

Overall I would suggest you choose IIEST if you want a very relaxed and enjoyable college life and at the end topped with good placement in a good company. With a certain level of decent study, you can secure a bright future.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is excellently designed and well planned. It gives you ample opportunities to undertake work and projects not only related to your own department but also outside the scope of your study. The teachers are very helpful and encouraging and they use their experience even while teaching in the class which helps us get a real-life view of some problems.

Placement Experience

4.5

The training and placement cell is very active and follows up the recruiters on a regular basis. They have and maintain active contacts with the industry through professors and our heads. After the 2nd and the 3rd year, we have to avail internships. Some companies visit the college and select interns. For the mining engineering department, all of us get selected in various companies as our professor sends letters to them and they send back their vacancy for interns.

College Events

4

There are various clubs and each of them holds their own fest. Oikotan is a musical cultural fest in our college. Rebeca is our cultural fest, and it also happens to be the biggest cultural fest in the east. The instruo is the official technical fest of our college held at a national level with lots of participants all across India. Apart from that, all the departments have their own fest's. Like the mining, the department has initium every year on a national level.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is kind of biased. As the SC people study free of cost whereas the general category has to bare the maximum fees. With respect to other colleges at the national level across India, our college is affordable. In four years if you are a day scholar and general candidate it will cost you around 5 lakhs, not including external costs. Supplementary examination costs 1000 rupees.

Fees and Financial Aid

Each year the GAABESU or global alumni association of Bengal Engineering and science university holds a scholarship event where people Fromm all years can apply either in the economically backward division, all-round excellence or research-based scholarship and they are awarded based on an interview which takes place later on.

Campus Life

3.5

There is no fixed gender ratio as in my batch there are only one girl and 19 boys. Whereas in the immediate next batch there are 2 girls and the rest boys. Apart from that, campus life is the best you can get. Just outside the first gate, there are innumerable shops to eat and enjoy. There's a nearby mall. Behind the college lies the Ganges. The campus itself is huge. It can take you a few hours to cover the entire campus.

Alumni/Alumna

There is a strong alumni network which works in our college and it helps us to get placed and call new companies every year. Their suggestions and inputs help the training and placement head act out easily on the available contacts.

Admission

I gave JEE mains exam to enter into this college. When the results came out we had to register on the JoSAA website and choose the colleges and department that we want to study in. IIEST is one of the most premier institutes in this country. I chose mining engineering because the placements were excellent in this department during 2016 when I was taking admission.

Faculty

4

The faculty varies from department to department. The mining department has one of the most renowned faculties in all over India and even recognised by many universities all over the world. The teachers are extremely qualified with various degrees and on-field experiences which they try their best to impart to the students through regular classes and labs. People who have formerly worked for coal India as managers, CMPDIL are faculty members. Some of our professors have also studied abroad like from Harvard.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
