Overall review

The College has a beautiful campus, we have two canteens, two snacks centres, juice centre, girls and boys mess, bakery, general stores and photocopy zerox centre. The campus is quite evergreen and good. Just the negative part about it is that our campus doesn't have a cricket or football ground. But we do have basketball court, volleyball court, badminton, etc. We also have cultural halls.

The course curriculum for me is of mechanical stream in engineering. My College is under affiliation of pune university. The curriculum for mechanical is good and overall balanced. We are thought about the concept, theories and also we get the same practical knowledge of it. Different labs such as thermodynamics lab, heat transfer lab, CAD/CAM lab, hydraulics & pneumatics lab, workshops, etc.are available at our College with good facilities. Industrial visits are arranged by the College to get industry experience and current technology going on. The exam structure for engineering is divided in 8 semesters for 4 years. Each semester has an insem exam which is of 30 marks and an endsem exam of 70 marks for each subject. There are total of major 6 subjects for each semester. Also we have practical exams and oral exams according to the subjects. The exam pattern is very cool, not so tough and is based on our concept which we have learned. The insem exam is scheduled in middle months of semester and the endsem is at the end of the semester.

The placements and job opportunities at sinhgad are excellent. We have placement drives at organization level, means all the technical Colleges of sinhgad Institutes get equal opportunity in the campus drive. The campus drive takes place at STES level. We have mass recruiters like Accenture, Infosys, Cognizant, etc. We get companies like Tata, Mahindra, John deere, etc for mechanical branch. Also we have top mnc's like amazon, persistent, nvidea, etc. The average packages offered by these companies are around 3.5 - 4 lakhs per annum. The highest packages vary from 6 - 12 LPA. And the lowest from 2.5 - 3.5 LPA. Also when we are pursuing our degree the College provides internship for students, with the companies with which they are having tie-up. Also the College helps in higher studies overseas.

Again there is a cultural, social and technical event at STES (sinhgad technical education society) level. The event is very popular by its name called 'Sinhgad Karandak'. This is the biggest event of sinhgad Institutes. It has various cultural competitions and also technical events. This is a great platform to showcase our talent. Also we have many small events in our College. We have the dance club, astronomy club, NSS club, etc. Many events are organised by these clubs.

According to me the fee structure is quite feasible. For open category, the fees is almost 100000 rs. per year. But also we can apply for certain government schemes which help in fee waiver. For general category students we have EBC (economically backward class) scheme which gives around 50% waiver in the tuition fees of the academic year. We just have to fill the form on MahaDBT government website. Most of the students can take benefits of such government schemes. And if you wish to take College hostel then the hostel fees including mess is around 65000 rs. Again it has government schemes applicable.

For general category, we have chhatrapati rajashree show maharaj shikshan shulk yojna (EBC) in which there is 50% of tuition fee waiver for economically backward students. This scheme requires annual income certificate of the family and the income should be below 600000 rs. This scheme has been very useful for me, because it almost saves 45% of my total fees.

Extracurricular activities are most often held in our College. We have different kinds of exhibitions and activities. We also do social activities which help people. We have dance club, astronomy club, NSS club, The College times magazine club, etc. Many internal College activities are done. There is diversity in gender, no discrimination or racism. No ragging. We have special committee for this. So there are no such things like racism, discrimination or ragging. Juniors and seniors are well mixed and friendly with each other.

Hostel is quite good. The rooms are good and have bed, table & a rack for each student. These rooms are on the sharing basis, there are 4 students in a room. And each room has a separate toilet and bathroom attached. The rooms are cleaned twice a week by the hostel staff. There is a gymnasium for students. Also we have wifi, hot water, etc. Warden and rectors are there to take care of students.

College also take alumni meets for us. The senior students tell us about their experience in the real world and the industry. Alumni are called on special occasion to share their knowledge. And when I was in 3rd year, I joined gokart team. The seniors in the team helped us most of the time and also taught new things. We have very helpful seniors. And as of now I'm a senior, I do help my juniors in their work.

This is a process based on merit list of MHCET marks. We have to give the preferences of Colleges and the course or the stream for which we wish to apply. This all is done on dte government website. There are total 4 rounds in which we are alloted Colleges according to our merit in CET exam. We are alloted Colleges according to preferences given on the website. We have to fill the preferences on the website and make a demand draft in the name of dte government of around 5000 rs. This fee is further transferred to our College after our admission is confirmed.

As in my College, the faculties who teach us are all master's degree holders. The faculties are quite experienced in teaching field. Many of the teachers are so enthusiastic that they teach some concepts so perfectly by using teaching tools and practical prototypes. As mechanical engineering is full of interesting course, the teachers also are enthusiastic. The bond between faculties and us is more of a friendly nature. Also the faculties guide us in our personal or College project works. As I'm in our College gokart team and our faculty coordinator is so helpful and cheerful for us.
