Review of LD College, Ahmedabad

In recent Sem , a new method known as Cumulative Comprehensive System has been deployed in which we have to give a paper of 30 marks almost every week. This was not the case first. Mid sems were taken at the mid of the sem and not everyday. And there is no scope of Research. Only faculties do that and that to for achieving a Accreditation. But a new thing SSIP has been found under which students are encouraged to start new businesses and entrepreneurial activities.

Considering all Govt College of Gujarat, LD is usually considered best when talked about placement. The thing is most of them get placed but with a cheap package like 240000/- Rs. So people opt for 2 things 1) Masters or 2) Govt Exams. And both have turned to be in favour of LDites. Most of them ace at this exams. Around 30 students cleared the Bank Exams with posts of Assistant Managers. And average package of Electrical students is 480000/- Lpa.

Lakshya- National Technical Festival( 10000 attendees ) Vox Populi - Cultural Festival ( 5000 attendees ) Prakalpa - Science Festival ( 2000 attendees ) This are the main festivals which are organised by our College. There are other several organised by clubs like NSS, NCC, ROTORACT, ROBOCON.

The fees is very very feasible. Due to the College being handled by Government, the fees has been put merely 2370/- Rs. But one also has to pay exam fees per semester which nearly equals to 1800 Rs per year.

Our College has a mere fees of 2370/- Rs per year so almost nobody takes the waiver scholarship for College fees. But students who are living in PGs get a scholarship in which they get half the amount back of their rent fees. It is named as MYSY ( Mukhya Yuva Svalamban Yojna ). And this is only for the OBC and SC/ST. It gets increasingly hard for students like me in General Quota.

I was not in the list of Hostel merit. Only top 3% get the hostel and it gets harder if you are in General Quota. So I live in nearby PG. My rent is 7000/ - Rs per month ( including everything ). But there are also some PG which offer only beds to sleep, no eating and cleaning clothes facilities. Such houses have a rate of 2500/- Rs.

Yes , our alumni network is really strong ( Particularly In Gujarat ) and they really help in getting you the required internships. They recently have donated 1000000 lakhs Rupees for the new technical lab in Electrical department.

I got my admission based on the merit list prepared on the basis of 12th marks and GUARAT CET. The ratio was 60 and 40 % respectively. Accordingly I was ranked 2900 in the list. I was first selected in the Govt College of Anand in First round. But in the Second round , the seat got vacant in LD College to which I applied and got selected.

Faculties need to clear the GPSC exam to become a faculty. But only if they also had to give a exam on learning. They know every book but lack the ability to transfer that knowledge from their mind to ours. They come, write on the board, we copy and the bell rings. They go their way, we go ours. And that's the end of day
