Remarks
The bonding between senior and junior is very good. And the location of this college is very beautiful with a large campus. The weather in jalpaiguri throughout the year is very lovely. The disadvantage is if you willing to take GATE EXAM PREPARATION you will not find any good coaching institute.
Course Curriculum Overview
This is an autonomous engineering college under Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). As per makaut rules there is total 8 semesters in 4 year course. The final marks of this course is counted as average marks of this 8 semesters.
Placement Experience
Placement scenario in non core departments (ECE, IT, CSE) is very good atleast 90% eligible students got job in final year But In case of core department (CE, EE, ME) placement scenario is not good enough. Now a days college authority arrange many seminars in soft skill development, speaking english, organization behavior to increase the placement ratio. The college provide internship in summer vacation but doesn't provide stipend. Majority of Student prefers to have their internship outside the college.
Fee Structure And Facilities
JGEC is a state government College in west bengal. That's why fees are very low. Tuition fees is 500 pee month for CE, EE, ME And 1000 per month for other department. And there is few other charges, which is more over 4000 per month.
Fees and Financial Aid
College provide HALF FEES Scholarship and full fees scholarship. Government of west bengal provide oasis and Swami Vivekananda. Other than this every year alumni association provide scholarship. Loan facilities are not provided here. I think due to the very low college and hostel fees and all this scholarship loan is not needed.
Campus Life
There are more than 20 active club in this college. Those are drama club, magic club, EDC(entrepreneur development cell ), dance club, magazine club, Jyoti, Space club, sports club, Music club Art club etc
Hostel Facilities
There is 5 different hostel in campus known as 1st year boys hostel, 2nd year boys hostel, 3rd year boys hostel, 4th year boys hostel and ladies hostel.Hostel facilities are quite good with good infrastructure but few things needs to be upgraded.
Alumni/Alumna
This is a very old college. The alumni network is very strong. Every year there a seminar tools place conducted by alumni association. Many club of this college is still run by alumni association. You will get good internship and job offer through this association.
Admission
After higher secondary exam there is a entrance test called west bengal joint entrance exam (known as WBJEE) to take admission in all state government exam in west bengal. After this entrance exam WBJEE board conduct a online counciling. Through this counciling process admission takes place.
Faculty
All the faculties have very high qualification background and they are very helpful in nature. But also I don't like the teaching style of few faculties. One should have enough interest to manage with those subjects.
