Life and Experiences at VNIT

College is quite good in every aspect but in some branches like mechanical and electrical study pressure is quite high. Apart from this, you will enjoy the college very well. Hope you will have a great life at VNIT.

The course structure is quite good with focus on practical experiences, industrial visits, research opportunities. We had very good labs which make us understand the subjects very deeply. We have 2 sessionals exam and one endsem exam each semester. The marks distribution is like this : 15+15(for sessionals) and 60 for endsem and 10 marks is internal assessment,where we are required to do some small projects and submit report and present it before professors and we are assessed accordingly.

Placement and internship opportunities are quite great. Around 60% students are placed every year from our college with an average package of 6 LPA. Around 40% of Students get paid internships through college and average stipend varies somewhat between 10-15k per month.

Axis is the technical fest of our college which is central India's largest tech fest.Dr. APJ Abdul kalam also came to our fest in 2014 and praised the quality of education we are receiving here at VNIT. Axis witnesses participation of large number of students across vidarbha region in more than 30 events and workshops. Aarohi and consortium is the cultural and management fest of VNIT respectively where a large number of students participate from all over the vidarbha region and showcase their talents in various fields. In addition to this we organise departmental gathering and institute gathering where various fun, sports, cultural and literary events happen over a span of around 10 days.

Fee structure is moderate. For a general category Student, payment structure is 66600(academic fees)+40000(hostel fees) per semester. Whereas for an SC ST category Student, 4100 is to be paid as academic fees and hostel fees is 32000.

Loans are provided by banks at less rate of interest. 2/3rd of tuition fees is remitted for Students with annual family income less than 5 lpa where as 100% tuition fee is remitted for Students with annual family income less than 1 lpa.

Extracurricular activities are quite good and Students can explore various options in different technical, cultural, literary clubs and also they can participate in all India inter nit tournaments where our college performs fairly well in most of the events.

Hostel has great infrastructure with 4-sharing rooms in 1st year, 2-sharing rooms in 2nd year and single rooms in the last two years. Each hostel has a laundry and great sports facilities and also reading room. Warden sirs are there to help you in times of need.

They are quite helpful and are always there in times of need and they solve most of problems be its related to academics or not. They also give you very useful advices regarding what to do in future etc.

I had given jee mains and came out with a percentile of 96.11 which made me get VNIT. And I was interested in machines and automobiles which made me choose Mechanical engineering. Admission process consisted of 7 rounds and in each round we had the option to freeze, float the choices. I got VNIT in last round. Also a special round is being held to fill-up the vacant seats, if any is there.

Faculties are very well qualified and they have a deep knowledge and understanding of the subjects. They are very dedicated and fully focused on making us understand the subjects in detail. If required they also conduct extra classes and special sessions to clear our doubt, to help weak students and also to teach practical oriented things in a subject. They also share the experiences they had in their industrial jobs and enrich us with their knowledge.
