Good College for Computer Science students

Teachers are very supportive in every format, jist don't be rude to them, be polite, respect them and they will treat you equally. Sometimes you will not find administration that supportive, however you can do nothing much to change it

I belong to Computer Science background, so I can tell about that only. So, course curriculum is fine, in the first year you will have to learn common subjects along with other branch students, the second year might be a struggling one but u will get along good in the third and fourth year. Unlike other Colleges, professors teach you most of the topics, give assignments, conduct regular tests, mentors regularly monitor your activities and most important thing, attendance is compulsory in this College. Talking about exams, internals - you can easily score good marks as what the professors teach you, they ask questions from that part only, so must attend all their lectured. And externals - Organizer is the holy book for externals, so make sure you have one before the exams and go through each question, then you can easily score 80-90% marks.

TCS & Infosys are the major recruiters for the whole College. Many other companies also come and they even provide more salaries than TCS & Infosys but their selection criteria is hard. So don't rely only on what College has taught you, you will have to learn beyond your College studies to be recruited in those companies. Finding job is little tough for Mechanical and Electrical branch students from this College. Rest commonly get recruited in any of the companies that come to the campus

Major festivals are Technical fest followed by cultural fest, which is now of 2 days each having a gap of one or days between them. Any student will have to first give auditions to the seniors and depending upon their performance they would be selected for the category they are applying to. External bands also perform in the cultural fest. Earlier celebrities used to perform too, but now they are no major celebrities visiting College for performance. Tech. Fest is also good. many events are there in which you can participate. Many external participants too come to participate and win prizes. Saraswati puja is the next big festival of the College and then Fresher's party is also good one. Matki fod is also celebrated but on a smaller scale

Feasible. Like any other College of West Bengal, it has very feasible fee structure, it will slowly increase as move forward to you next year. Hostel rent is very cheap, and mesh rate is a little costly compared to food provided.

If you fill West Bengal scholarship form then you will get good percentage of what you paid, back in your account which you can fill only if you are a resident of W.B., for other states you can fill your state scholarship form and avail scholarships.

There are many sports activities going on in campus, there is basketball and volleyball courts in the College and a football ground too. So you can enjoy variety of sports. Several indoor games can be played too. Annually sports competition is also organized which you can participate and win prizes. Labs are very good and properly organized. And labs are mandatory to attend and perform lab experiments or activities too.

Hostel is good, almost of all the years(1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th). You will get unlimited LAN facilities in your hostel rooms. Mesh food is not too good but eventually you will get used to it. Canteens are an escape from the mesh food, but they are also average only. There is no other staying facility around College, so it is recommended to stay in hostel and enjoy hostel life and its activities.

Seniors will be always very helpful only if you make contact with them, no one is going to deny for helping you. It's that you will have to interact with your seniors. At the time of College you might not understand the value of it, but after the College life, you will get to know the value of your contacts with your seniors

I got admission in this College through JEE MAINS exam rank. I chose this College on the basis of my WBJEE rank, but there was a column for JEE MAINS rank, and my JEE MAINS rank was better than WBJEE, so they took admission though JEE MAINS only. In the counselling process I filled many Colleges but got admission in this one though. It was not a planned move to do my graduation through this College but I guess overall it was quite a good decision.

Faculties of Computer Science are very good, they are very co-operative in nature, very friendly too. You can ask your doubts easily, they will be easily available to you in the College time. They teach in such a way that your concepts would become very strong. However this doesn't apply to some of the teachers in the department, so make sure you do not rely on them, you will have to work yourself in those areas. Faculties of other departments are also good.
