Remarks

IIT Kharagpur has obviously been upto my expectations. So far I have not had any experience which might make me make a bad remark about the management or the college either.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure in the first year is quite hollistic. It provides the students an insight into subjects from various streams. We also get to know the basics of different subjects which are very essential for students belonging to all fields of science and technology.

Placement Experience

4

The placement record for our college is really good with more than 1000 students placed last year.I can't provide insight about any internships as I have not availed any

College Events

4.5

The technical fest Kshitij is the largest techno management fest in India.Apart from this there is the cultural extravaganza Springfest which has a footfall of more than 80000.Apart from these two there are also departmental fests which are held throughout the year

Fee Structure And Facilities

There is a clear breakdown of all the expenses. We need to pay around ? 1.25 lakh each semester which includes Tution fees, hostel fees and some other charges. In the first semester we need to pay an extra ?15000 which involves all the first time expenses. In a nutshell the fees structure is very much feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college does offer some educational scholarships to those in need as well as to those who have performed exceptionally in the entarnce exam. However I have not been offered any such scholarships so far.

Campus Life

4

The campus life is great. There are a lot of societies to be involved in. There are also research groups in our institute.Apart these there is some event or the other going on round the year. For recreational purposes there are state of the art facilities such as the Jnan Ghosh stadium for athletics,Tata sports complex for football and cricket,an Olympic sized swimming pool and many other. The gender ratio is pretty screwed though standing at around 14:1(b:g).

Hostel Facilities

3

Yes, the hostel room I live in is a triple sharing one.The rooms are spacious and the lavetories are in decent condition. The mess food is quite average.Per semester we need to pay around ?50000 as our hostel fees which majorly includes the mess charges and some other hostel charges.

Alumni/Alumna

There is an alumni cell in the institute which mantains relations with all the alumni.IIT KGP has a strong alumni base. The alums visit the campus once in a year during homecoming event where they interact with the present students. The interactions with the alums give us a wonderful insight about the industrial and research life and the challenges which lie ahead after graduation.

Admission

I got admission via the JEE exam. The test did not go as expected.I expected a better rank and was expecting physics at KGP but missed out by a small margin. So I decided to take up Chemistry as I am interested in research.I am aiming to change my major to Physics or Maths in the 2nd year if possible.

Faculty

3.5

There are 3 hours of lectures corresponding to each subject per week. In addition to these there are also labs. The professors seem to have a lot depth in their respective fields. Most of the professors have completed their PhD and have had some sort of industrial or research related exposure. Some of the professors are young whereas some other are senior professors with a lot of experience

Course Curriculum Overview:

Though the bachelor of science is pursued by someone who wants to research and develop some idea to help the modern world. The primary decision was to contribute to the society like the great scientists who have done so before. The curriculum provides a balanced approach of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, theoretical knowledge from classes, assignments, homeworks and exams. Practical knowledge through the different workshops that are held in the college auditorium or online with successful men of the field who are brought as guests in them, from renowned scientists to great thinkers we have met a lot of them.
