An insight into the life of an engineering student in FIEM.

My college has helped me to emerge as a better individual and affected my personality in a positive way.The only negative factor is the transport connectivity because my college is located in a bit suburb.

The course curriculum is well suited for students considering the present scenario.Each and every subject is of utmost importance intended to make the student's foundation stronger.The course is divided into 8 semesters.At the end of each semester the university my college is affiliated to conducts exam to test the understanding of a student on that subject matter. Questions are standard straight and require to the point answers.Theory and practical exams are conducted.Both are of 100 marks.

The training and placement cell of my college is very active and organises placement for every 4th year student.Besides prior training is also provided to students to groom and prepare us for interviews.Internships are also provided in third year to willing candidates.

There are five clubs in our college.Xplorica,Culrav,Estrella,Sportivo, Ingenium are the technical, cultural,film,sports and entrepreneurship clubs respectively.Every club organises fests annually.Each fest witnesses a large crowd of students participating not only from our college but also from other institutions.These fests not only provide students a relaxation from the day to day routine but also boosts our confidence.

The fees for four year course is Rs 3,30,000.The fees for first sem was around Rs 70,000 and around Rs 43,000 each for remaining seven semesters.The fees is expensive but there are provisions of scholarships for candidates having poor financial background.

There is loan facility.Some cholarship facilities like the swami Vivekananda scholarship scheme is also available.If a student has annual family income less than one lac then such students can avail subsidised tuition fees by producing proper documents at the time of counseling and documents verification.

There are almost equal number of female and male students in class.A lot of workshops and seminars are organised for student's.Students are enthusiastic about sports and other extra curricular activities.There is no gender race religious or other kinds of discrimination.

Alumni and seniors are very helpful and help juniors by giving us guidance in various matters like academics,placement preparation, and undertaking projects which are not a part of our course curriculum.

One has to appear for WBJEE an entrance examination held for colleges in west bengal.After the results are declared qualifying students get a rank.Every qualifying candidate if willing to opt for admission has to register for online counseling where one has to pay registration fees and then fill choices of college where they wish to take admission in order of preference.There are generally three rounds of counseling and one additional mop up round.Every college has a opening and closing rank.If your rank lies within that range then you are alloted a seat.After choice filling you have to lock your choice and if choices are not locked before deadline they get automatically locked according to your last choice filling.Now for the first round of counseling after results are declared if you are alloted a seat then you have to visit the reporting centre in your zone and verify your documents.There will be options to upgrade to colleges higher in your order of preference than the one you were alloted otherwise stick to the present one. Every student has to pay seat acceptance fees after completing verification of documents.If someone is not alloted a seat in the first round then this verification is to be completed in the subsequent rounds when seat is alloted.Finally when i had completed all this process i visited my college where i had to pay 1st semester fees and complete a few formalities.Thats was all about the admission.

My department has qualified professors who were student's of renowned institutes in the past. Every one is knowledgeable and keen to clear student's doubt.Most of the professors are experienced.Some of them are research scholars.
