Review of UEM Kolkata

I would like to keep it neutral as because I neither love my college nor I hate it, maybe sometimes I got scolded by our professors, thrown out for coming late but it's only for my own good and when I am successful in achieving something my professors are the first to wish me and encourage me.

The course structure is very nice, it's based on IIT's we in our freshmen year had all same subjects for all departments from 3rd Semesters we enter into our Departmental subjects. We have really very strict rules about discipline we have to reach our University before 9:00 we have our morning prayer followed by a motivational speech by our Dean Sir or Registrar Sir. We need to have a proper uniform with a tie and black formal shoes and ID cards or we won't be allowed to enter the campus. We have a very hectic day and we have to give an online test after each and every class to get the attendance and to check how much we had learned. We have 2 mid-semester examinations in each and every semester in the 2nd Mid-semester time it is followed by end semester lab examination and Viva exams.

Placements are one of the key factors for our University, major mass recruiters, core companies, product-based companies, startups come for the placements. If you are good you may land into 4-5 job offers. TCS, Capgemini, Cognizant, Wipro are the mass recruiters. Polycab, Reliance, Sankalp Semiconductor s, EPAM and many come they recruit from the University. For Internship and training, we have our placements cell that manages it.

URECKON - The Technical Fest. It's attended by most of the colleges as well as schools in Kolkata. ESCTASIA - The cultural fest is also attended by maximum colleges in Kolkata. We have IEM UEM Marathon. Cyclothon, Makers Faire Fest, and many more.

The college provides scholarships to the top 3 students from each section and they also give a scholarship to the 90 percentage holders. They have to tie up with 3-4 banks for education loans the loans are reimbursement quite quick but if you are a bad performer in semester exams they might hold your payments.

The gender ratio is quite good in computer science and Electronics Departments in Electrical, Civil and mechanical the ratio is quite poor. We don't have dorm parties and neither our college is affiliated with any political parties. We have workshops on recent topics for the facilities as well as for the students organized by the student's Chapter like the IEEE, ACM, SPIE, OSA, IETE, and many more.

I have not opted for a PG facility, I live nearby with my parents and travel 15 KMs every day to my college to attend classes. And as I know from my friends the PGs are comfortable but not as good as our homes.

Yes, they are very helpful and they always guide us when we are stuck in our projects and in organizing various events which need to be done very smoothly, they also give us tips on how to crack interviews and tests.

So after my Class 12th Boards results were out I was thinking about which college should I join, I visited educational fairs organized by the college in Netaji indoor stadium back in 2017. I saw our college pavilion IEM-UEM Group, I visited many more stalls but I liked the UEM KOLKATA then I visited their office in Salt lake to know about the fee structure for the college and the admission fees and as we're the 3rd batch placements had not been taken place till then. So in the month of May, I had got all the documents prepared like the WBJEE Scorecard, ISC Markets and got them attested, and after verification of all the documents, I got admitted after paying 81200 INR.

Our faculties are outstanding they always try to guide us and motivate us to achieve extra sometimes they might be harsh on us but at the end of the day it's for our own good. Mostly most of our faculties are from Jadavpur University, IIEST Shibpur, IIT Kharagpur, IISER Kolkata, or Calcutta University. All of them have Master's degrees in their own fields and most of them are doing P.hD.
