Infrastructure needs to improve.library is good. More exposure to practical tax experience needed. Classes need to be small. Batches should not exceed 40 students. Debate socitey needs to more funding and push

Course Curriculum Overview

Earlier it was 3 years. Now 6 semesters. The course is decided by University of CALCUTTA. The tax course needs huge upgradation. It is still not at par with CA or CS course. The exposure and placement opportunities are good.

Placement Experience

Firms like KPMG, deloitte hire. Packages are low compared to other ciites. Co. S like tcs capgemini aditya birla also. Come in the placement drive. The salebility of b. Com degree from gccba is good. But the packages offered are low.

College Events

Quest - annual fest, socials, freshers, radio mirchi talent hunt. Debate, teachers day, independence day dance and singing, founders day celebration, we go to other college's fest as well. There is a good scope to develop co cirriculars

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a government college the fees are pretty low. I had paid a monthly fee of rs. 85.there is a annual fee if rs. 2000, exam fee of. Rs. 1000 and liabrary. The total fee for 3 years graduation will not exceed rs. 5000

There are none. It is a government college hence fees are highly subsidised. There are private scholarship programs for underprivileged, female students, differently able students, travel fare subsidy

Campus Life

There is a good scope to develop co cirriculars. Gender ratio is almost 2:1.debatw society cricket team singing team dance teams all are there. People mostly belong to upper caste so there is an undertone of casteist slurs and sexist comments. Not very homosexual friendly to be honest.

Alumni/Alumna

Not really. Sometimes they have a meet and seminars once in a while. Other than that nothing much. Famous people who have passed out of our college are Arun Kumar, Rajatabho dutta, abir chatterjee. Arun kumars's screen name was uttam kumar

Admission

Scored 90% in ISC. This is the best Commerce college in Kolkata. Better than Xaviers academically. The admission process was simple. It wad online. I had a counselling and I got admission to Goenkq College of commerce and Business administration in B. Com Honours

Faculty

Mostly professors with Phd CA or CS degree teach us. Some professors always seem to be under qualified. However overall the professors are really knowledgeable. Audit faculty needs to be changed. Mr. JK mitra is a wonderful teacher

St Joseph's college a Decent one

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Placement Experience:

from 3rd semester, students become eligible for campus placement. Various Jewelleries company has visited, and even companies like Google, Tata and many has visited. As per i know the highest package were in lacs per month. The college provides 100% placement. After getting the degree, I'll do masters in business administration.

SXC is invaluable to me!

Placement Experience:

Highest package of our program has been 20 lakhs. Companies like EY, DeShaw, ITC, CESC and many others which are multi billion dollar groups were the ones which are invited for placements. Batch size including morning and evening is of 400 students and nearly 200 gets placements in dream companies. Roles of business analyst and accounting are provided and SAP is taught in our college so those who know that gets job easily.

INSIGHTS OF GCCBA

Goenka college of commerce and business administration is the second best college in Kolkata and the best college under Calcutta University. Hence it has a brand value. I got admission offers in SXUK, Jaipuria THK Jain and Bhawanipur college, But this was the best option I had. The admission process is through your boards marks. Proud to be Goenkan

I got admission in Aliah University which is in New Town Kolkata I got rank 12. I applied in Shri Shikshathan College also and got admission in first list. I rejected both the colleges as Aliah University though it is a reputed college but the placement committee is not as good as Goenka College of commerce. I applied for BBA + MBA integrated program in Aliah University but I wanted to pursue BCom honours in accountancy and finance thus I rejected Aliah University. Shri shikshayatan college on the other hand is another reputed college in which I applied for bcom honours in accountancy and finance I rejected Shri shikshayatan college as no doubt Goenka College is way more better than Shree shikshayatan and Shri shikshayatan is comparatively very much expensive in comparison with goenka. Shri shikshayatan takes around 250000 tuition fee on the other hand Goenka College charges only 4090 rs for 4 years....Read More
