Remarks

There are a lot of facilities which need to be improved and a lot which have yet to be introduced. The curriculum has to change drastically. The faculty should also be more Well versed with the subjects and need to understand the problems students are facing. Menial labour like the copying work that students do for assignments or for class notes, should be eliminated. All that the teacher does is dictate notes in class which not many bother to write.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

For the 2016- 2020 batch, The course curriculum is very outdated and does not provide any electives until the 3rd year of the course. No part of the curriculum focuses on research. There are few faculty members who encourage new ideas from the students. As of 2020 the college management has changed a lot and a lot is being done to improve the curriculum for the upcoming batches. Languages like python which were not previously part of the curriculum are now part of it.

Placement Experience

1.5

For jobs, The placement scenario is very bad as not a lot of companies are inclined to come to the college. Somehow the placement department manages to bring Microsoft each year but they only recruit for Management roles and not developer roles. Also, a local Startup called the Verticals, Federal bank, JADE global, Informatica, Accenture, TCS, Factset, Data pro, Musigma etc are some of the companies which came for campus placement. A majority of the above companies offer management roles and only few companies like Factset, Accenture etc recruit for developer roles. Factset offered 6Lpa but a majority of the companies have pay packages of 3L to 4L and some have bonds for upto 3 years.

College Events

3

There is an event hosted by the ACM community called the Techcellence which hosts a lot of events like games and programming contests. There are various clubs like the gitam center for entrepreneurship and innovation development, the Gitam University Science and arts club and the kalakrithi club. They host a lot of similar events like dance programmes, skits, music concerts, etc. All of the fests mentioned above have a peak audience of upto a 1500 people. Some clubs also also bring in some local tollywood actors to the fest so that they can promote their film.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Expensive is an understatement. Currently for the 2016 batch, which makes this the 4th year for them, the fee structure is 225000 rs per annum. For the 3rd year it is 250000 rs and for the 1st and 2nd years it is 275000 rs.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't taken any loan from the college nor have I won any scholarships.

Campus Life

3.5

We have an indoor stadium on campus which has facilities like table tennis, basketball, badminton and carrom and a gym. The facility costs an extra 2500rs. There is also an open ground for cricket and football although there are very few such events conducted on a regular basis.

Alumni/Alumna

There are some seniors who are talented and worth connecting with but a lot of them are just not interested in whatever they are doing and so they waste their time in college. Many of these not so talented people end up in companies like TCS or in other companies where they work on data entry jobs, which have nothing to do with whatever they have learnt in Computer Science.

Admission

For the most part of my life, My performance in academics was little above average. Because of this I couldn't make it into any of the Tier 1 colleges and since I had no options I joined Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management in Visakhapatnam as that is where I live. I was an awkward teen and had no Idea about What I was getting myself into. Luckily I had some well informed people in my family who suggested that I choose Computer Science and I did.

Faculty

0.5

The teaching is the worst as almost half the time, the teachers do not know what they're teaching and always focus on what's written in their specially curated subject notebook. The students are taught the same algorithms over the years and are not introduced properly to core subjects like Operating systems, Algorithm analysis and design etc. The faculty profile seems interesting on the first look but when we look at the specifics, their publications aren't all that great at all. There are some who have a lot of publications but fail to answer some basic questions when asked. Some are good at teaching their subject but they soon dive into management roles and new faculty replace them.

Exams are conducted continously with no gaps and its not a easy stuff students get lot of stress but still somehow manage.

The placement opportunities at KIIT are quite good, especially for us the CSE students. The eligibility criteria for campus placements starts from 7th semester. Many well-known companies visit the university every year like TATA Consultancy Services , Infosys, Wipro, Accenture and Capgemini. The average package offered is around 6-8 lakhs and highest package offered around per yr avg is 50-60 lakhs. The percentage of students getting placements is around 90% plus in average per yr. After completing my degree, i plan to work in software industry and gain more experience in the field of technology

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
