Remarks
The work load can be sometimes very hectic but being in Chandigarh everything is very accessible at every hour. Food thourough swiggy, Zomato is very easily accessed and even a lot is open at the night. So the hostel life is unmatched to any other place.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is well structured as it is not very old as one assumes it to be before joining the course, a good amount of practical workshops are available for hands on experience towards the work though the instructors might be sometimes a bit rude but are the master of their respective shops. Newly formed siemens labs are a step forward towards the latest technology including cnc's, virtual prototyping and 3-d printers. One major drawback of the course is the lack of research work and opportunities available in the field and a very hectic schedule due to frequent number of lengthy labs.
Placement Experience
The placement scenario for production is really good, better than expected. Recently BMW hired interns from 3rd year with a stipend of about 35-40k p/m which is fair enough and the highest package last session for production was 21 lakhs and 42 lakhs for all branches combined with and average of about 11lpa for Computer science and 7 lpa for production.
College Events
Pecfest, north India's largest techno cultural fest is celebrated in the month of November in the college featuring top stars like guru randhawa and Farhan akhtar. The club culture of the college is very good which results in very frequent club events taking place like trivium.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee Structure is quite affordable considering the quality of education and the quality of teachers for any other private college of a similar status like Thapar the fees is about 3-4 times than that of PEC.so it is very feasible and also many scholorships are offered as well especially like a 100% fee for the class toppers.
Fees and Financial Aid
A scholorshyip to the class topper for each semester is offered in terms of 100% tuition fee waiver for the next semester.the rank opener recieved the waiver for the first semester other than that, there are many waivers for the sc/st/EWS category students.
Campus Life
The club culture in the college is very good. There is a number of clubs and NPOs operating in the college which provide an excellent plathera of co-cirricular activities. The cultural clubs are known to bag many prizes but the technical ones are not far behind. The sports clubs on the other hand are little suppressed but will surely catch up son.
Hostel Facilities
The first year hostels are very very good especially C-block. The hostels later on for 2nd year onwards are very poor but since there are no restrictions whatsoever like in-out timings, the hostel Life is way better than any other college.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are helpful in a number of ways and they share their experience, notes and mistakes so that we do not make them. The alumini network is also very good as recently the 1991 alumini batch offered a scholorshyip program to the college students.
Admission
The admission to the college takes place thourough the prestigious JEE (MAINS). 50% of the seats in the college are reserved for home state quota (Chandigarh) but the downside is that home state quota students didnt get hostels this year. Being from a business family, I chose production engineering branch. The lowest in terms of cutt off in general category is for materials and metallurgy (about 60000 rank for general).
Faculty
The faculty for core subjects is well experienced and versed with their subjects. The newer faculty is a bit hard to deal with but generally takes up accessory subjects so it does not affect a lot and sometimes when the teachers are not available themselves they would send their PhD students in the class which is a time waste.
