Remarks

College management can improve considerably. They can make the course a little more diverse and application oriented. Give students more and more research opportunities. Also I request them to change the administrative department and make it more student friendly and improve overall extracurricular facilities for students.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The course structure is rather subjective than application oriented. Many subjects were old and don't find them still in use in today's industry. That is once such disadvantage of studying in a vtu affiliated college. Other than that a few subjects helped understand industry concepts to aid during campus placements. There were No, industrial visits for my batch. We had few talks and seminars from people in the industry.

Placement Experience

2

Companies that had come to our college for recruitment were Accenture, Infosys, Bosch, Continental, Aryaka networks, Texas Instruments, Amazon along with few startups. Generally, companies would start with an aptitude exam to filter students to the technical interview round. Then after the tech interview, selected students would face the hour round before clearing the job. Around 80% of the students secured a job offer, most of them from Accenture and Infosys. The institute conducted pre placement sessions where students had weekly once classes for thouree months on how to prepare and clear interviews. It was mandatory for all the students. Coming to internships, students had to find their own internships and little support was provided by college.

College Events

2.5

We had two biannual cultural fests called parichay and pantheon. Parichay was only for college students whereas pantheon was for all colleges across Bangalore. The fests were really entertaining. It would be for thouree days with multiple cultural events, games and competitions spread across evenly and finished with a performance by a DJ or musician. They were fairly big in number of people attending the event. Apart from that each department had their annual technical fest. In that we had workshops, hackathons, seminars and other such technical events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee was decided by the government rather than by the college. The CET fee was 70k per annum whereas the comedk fee was around CET Lakhs. No, extra fee was asked for admission. The college provides complete splitup for the fee paid by every student.

Fees and Financial Aid

College did not offer any scholarship opportunities based on merit. Government offered some based on reservation.

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life was good in general. Students from all over the county were found which made the classrooms really diverse. The gender ratios were almost equal. There was No, concept of discrimination based on gender, race, religion or economic status. Students from all ethnic backgrounds were equally treated by the college and professors. There was a cultural team which would organize cultural events every Now and then for students to take part but college was not very supportive of them. There was a freshers welcome party for us which was really objected by college. So dorm parties is out of question really. Workshops on educating students with different technologies were conducted every Now and then both on collegiate and department level. Extra curriculum events included cultural fests, flash mobs and few other events organized by other colleges. No, initiative was taken by college as such.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

No, I had not opted for the hostel as I was living in Bangalore with my family. But I can thourow some light on it as I have visited the hostel a couple of times. The hostels were a little old, few rooms had moulds on the roof. The facilities provided were bare minimum. Each room had a bed, locked cupboard, light and a fan. Few rooms had attached bathourooms and few were shared. Water was always a problem. There were many PGs around the college and students had opted living in them.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni response was not that great. Seniors hardly contacted the students during placements or any other events. I suggested my college on improving the alumni network before leaving and they are working on it.

Admission

I opted for the electronics and communication engineering course thourough KCET. I chose this particular college because I got a rank of 4906 in my entrance exam and wanted to study ECE. For that rank, RNS was a very good choice because they had good placements for the ece department and the campus was good too. I asked my peers about how the professors and the teaching was and got a good feedback. These made me choose RNSIT. After my CET, I chose this college and they called me for the admission. I had to go to the administration office and show them the cet documents and sign on few forms before joining the college.

Faculty

2

The department had around 30 professors. Each with a master's degree in a relevant electronics field. The average age would be 30 years and the top level which included HoD and section heads were PhD holders. Few teachers were really skilled and clear about the subjects but many were not of much help. Very few teachers, less than ten had industry experience or certifications.
