Remarks
Management of our college while I have been studying was pretty well taken care of.
Course Curriculum Overview
Our exam structure is designed to test us thouroughout the semester and not just have one big exam at the end. The curriculum of my course is very industry-specific but at the same time we can approach our professors for research related opportunities. This couse has taught me lot of fundamental tools I require to become a data scientist like SQL, python etc.
Placement Experience
We usually get Internship opportunities from a few companies in our second and third year where companies like Microsoft pick a few students. Then in the first semester of the fourth year we have our placement season where a lot of companies and a few start-ups visit us like BlackRock, Ugam, TheMathCompany, Cisco, Cerner, Citrix, McAfee etc. The institute helps us give the online tests and also helps us present our resumes.
College Events
Technical event is called Tectatva. It's pretty huge as there are a lot students from other colleges attending the various competitions. The turnout ranges from 800 to 1000 for out of station attendees. Cultural event is the biggest college fest we have called Revels. The turnout is usually around 1500 for the out of station attendees. I usually enjoy battle of the bands and the show every evening where famous artists ranging from actors to singers are called to entertain the crowd. They also have a list of sport events that anyone can take part in. There are no management events as such.
Fee Structure And Facilities
All in all, the total program fee except stay and food was Rs. 1400000. Modes of payment include NetBanking, Paytm etc. No, there are no additional fees that had to be paid in order to secure an admission. Yes, our college provides full transparency in fee-breakdown.
Fees and Financial Aid
There were opportunities for scholarships. But I only came across it once during admissions, if someone had a rank below 500, they were elegible for a certain amount, which I am not sure of.
Campus Life
Gender ratio would be 6:4 in favour of boys with a huge diverse crowd. There are very frequent partying opportunities every week, almost 4 days a week. I think the people here are very tolerant in every aspect wether it be gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics or economic status. People don't care for these things much, they just want to have a good time. The extracurricular activities are by far the best here. We have got almost everything one could ask for. I play football and it's following here is tremendous.
Hostel Facilities
I lived in an apartment. It cost a total of Rs. 16000 a month for two bedrooms that I shared with a friend of mine. Food and cook cost us around Rs. 8000 a month in total and electricity around Rs. 1000 total.
Alumni/Alumna
I have a lot of friends who were my alumni while studying here. They helped me a lot when I had to choose what clubs and student projects I should be a part of.
Admission
I appeared for the entrance exam conducted by the university called MUOET. Then I had been called for the councelling session to choose my branch. I chose this couse as I wanted to be a computer science engineer but I didn't not get enough in the entrance to opt for that branch but then I did some research and found out that this course was something what I had been looking for.
Faculty
We usually have 36 or 48 lectures depending upon the number of credits it holds. Most of our lectures are Master degree holders and a few even have PhD certification. They range from 30 to 60 years in age. In my opinion, they provide good amount of knowledge relevant to the industry but sometimes we need to approach then after class to know more in depth.
