Remarks
KJSCE should be one of the top choices for every student who wants to pursue engineering in Mumbai. The placements is one of the strongest points of KJSCE as it has a good name in the industry. Getting to the college is not an issue as it is not far from
Entrance Preview
I got into KJSCE through the AIEEE quota that reserved 5 seats for every branch intake. Scored 186 in AIEEE and got into KJSCE in the first round itself through the online process. I applied for other colleges too giving them priority, KJSCE being 3rd on the list. KJSCE was followed by VJTI, Matunga and SPIT, Bandra. Now I'm glad that I got into KJSCE. Now that KJSCE has been given an autonomy authority under the University of Mumbai, it seems that luck played its part.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college being autonomous but affiliated by the Mumbai University lets the university keep in check the syllabus after the faculty at KJSCE makes changes to the actual Mumbai University curriculum. The Information Technology department is quite good with most of the teachers even teaching for M.Tech students.
Internships Opportunities
Our college doesn't provide any internship opportunities. However, RiiDL, the "start-up" incubator at our college does provide good internship opportunities to students with stipend ranging from 2000 to 6000 per month. Some companies have their tie up with RiiDL for internships or RiiDL itself provides internships for students in different fields like robotics, coding and electronics.
Placement Experience
The placement and job opportunities are one of the best that one can get in Mumbai. The packages range from 3.25 lpa (lakhs per annum) to 14.50 lpa. Companies like CouponDunia, Barclays, Morgan Stanley, Direct-i and other are some of the so-called "dream" companies that provide packages above 5 lpa. Mass recruiting companies like TCS, Accenture, Infosys too hire students with an average package of 3.25 lpa. 83 companies came in to hire students in the placement cell in 2014-2015.
College Events
There are two festivals celebrated by KJSCE organised by the Students' Council namely, Abhiyantriki and Symphony. Abhiyantriki is the technical festival organised during the month of September and Symphony being the cultural festival is organised in the month of February. People from different colleges participate in the college festivals making it a huge success.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is on the higher side with the fees for the first year students being upto Rs.1,30,000 and fluctuating for the coming years. Gymkhana fees, library fees, exam fees are all included in the fees. The library fees is collected as a deposit which can be refunded if not used.
Campus Life
Gender ratios depend on the branch with the least ratio in the Mechanical department and a decent ratio in the IT and Computer Department. The extracurricular activities are plenty in number including various events keeping debates, workshops on robotics, computer technologies. Most workshops are hosted by reputed spokespersons from the industries or trained students from various councils. The campus life is chilled out with various canteens in the campus with two engineering canteens, one maggi house, one management canteen and another on on the junior college side.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities in SIMSR are very good. However, there's another hostel in KJSCE which isn't preferred by most students as the building is not as maintained as the SIMSR one. The SIMSR hostel has a gym which makes it a plus point for students. Irrespect
Alumni/Alumna
College alumni frequently come to the college to keep workshops or come with the companies they're placed in. There is a special council set up by the students of KJSCE to keep in touch with the alumni called the "Alumni Cell". The cell keeps in touch with the passed out students and urge them to interact with the students of the college through webinars, talks and workshops. It even invites the alumni who have done post graduation from various fields to interact with students by AIM funding, TEDxKJSCE and Pixel (the creative force of the council).
Exam Structure
The Exam structure has changed after the autonomy status acquired by KJSCE. Exams are held in a gap of 1 to 3 days unlike the Mumbai University exams that have gaps of atleast 4 days. The syllabus has to be covered regularly otherwise it is a difficult ta
