The university was ranked 6th in APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University in 2017 and again ranked 2nd among private engineering colleges in 2017. The college is equipped with the best of infrastructure and amenities to support an overall education of the students.
Course Curriculum Overview
Its semester based system and the program focuses on 5 key social subjects- Sociology, Economic, Political Science, History and Psychology. Students can choose their areas of specialization with field work during the last semester. Study of social sciences aims at developing knowledge, skills and values for the common good of different social backgrounds. TISS is India’s one of a kind institutes dedicated towards contributing in the society.
Placement Experience
In a country like India where it is known for its secularism and its different cultural diversities, the course trains a student to be sensitive towards cultural similarities and understand different positions to commit to social responsibility. TISS offers working practically with filed assignments and NGOs which gives students a chance to put their knowledge to practical use. After completion student can work in NGO or goverment based institutes dedicated for such social work.
College Events
Students are often engage in field work which is great exposure for them to see the reality and work with it. There are several programs like Amulya Balpan run by the institute for the well being of certain categories of society. The college also organises workshops and seminars which is done by external guests who share their knowledge with students
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees are very reasonable as compared to institutes who offer this level of education. The fees structure includes several charges like tuition fees, exam fees, lab charges, deposit etc. so it would be in total Rs.275900 for 3 years (Rs.58000 for sem 1, Rs.40000 for sem 2, Rs.48500 for sem 3, Rs.39000 for sem 4, Rs.48500 for sem 5, Rs.41000 for sem 6).
Campus Life
The college has all the amenities needed for like well facilitated classrooms, laboratories, computer lab, library, online library etc. In addition to this there is doctor’s availability in the institute for the students. The college collaborates with universities, institutions and groups in NER to strengthen teaching, research, and training.
Hostel Facilities
There is multi seater hostel which will be provided to GOI students of Guwahati campus, as per the norms of institute. The college will facilitate the hiring of accommodations by students with pre-designed agents.
Admission
In this 3 year bachelor’s degree there are 60 seats. Students must apply with the score of the entrance exam conducted by TISS which is a 100 mark test and based on those scores only students are granted admission however, 66% seats are reserved for north eastern students. The admission process is carried out in the month of March and student can apply online.
