Remarks

It was and it is a great college with good management and excellent faculty. The overall crowd is hepp and happening. I would definitely recommend this college to whoever is planning to join a college in Delhi university.

Entrance Preview

I opted for B.Com as I was always interested in getting into Business and Commerce sure would have helped me. I scored 78% in XII and got admission to the college as per the second cutoff list in 1995. (I wouldn't have gotten a chance to be a part of SGTB college if I had applied in recent times as the cutoff now goes upto 96%)

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Curicullum was based on standard Delhi University curricullum, and the faculty was excellent. We had well qualified and experienced faculty who was always ready to help.Curricullum included Commerce, Business Studies, Financial Management, Financial Accounting, Micro Economics and more.

Internships Opportunities

Though many nice organizations came to our college for campus hiring/internship programs, I didn't go for internship with an external organization as I opted for using my skills within my family owned company. As far as I know the stipend paid at that time was around 3000 per month.

Placement Experience

4

Dont remember the exact company names, but we didn't have too many MNCs at that time and hence companies like SBI, Britania, Godrej, Tata would come for campus hiring those days. The starting packages ranged between 150000 - 300000 INR p.a.

College Events

4

We had the best of the annual cultural festivals and the college was active in the events across cultural and technical events across Delhi university. Our Bhangra as well as Western choreography groups always lead the events across the campus (North & South) and won several accolades.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It was a pretty reasonal fee structure in 1995. I think around INR 20K per annum to be paid in advance annually for the academic year.Fees for sports or any other extra curricular activities was charged extra based on selection and events.

Fees and Financial Aid

In those days, the fees was pretlly reasonable and hence hardly anobody needed loans. Many of the students including myself did some part time jobs to pay our college fees.

Campus Life

4

There was a healthy gender ratio not just in SGTB Khalsa college, but in entire North campus and that's one of the reasons most youngsters wanted to join a college in North Campus. While I hardly remember any specific events, I do remember some bias towards students from North east who were called as 'Chinki'. We understand today that it wasn't the right spirit. I am sure the bias has reduced now.The annual college election was an event in itself.which can be termed bigger than the DUSU elections in some cases. A lot of financial and muscle power was used in those days to win elections. As far as DUSU elections were concerned, the main parties during that time were ABVP and NSUI, both using the finances and power provided by their supporting political parties. The annual events were a great fun and the entire campus used to wait for the annual cultural festival at SGTB. It used to be a fun filled yet competetive event with celebrities joining in on opening/closing days.

Hostel Facilities

3

I didn't use the hostel personally, however, a couple of my mates used hostel facilities offered by Delhi campus. While it had all the basic facilities, there was a room for improvement in terms of cleanliness and maintenance of the common facilities.

Alumni/Alumna

I personally have not been a part of any alumni group. Manu of my close friends moved abroad, and hence I never was much interested to interact much with the other college mates.

Exam Structure

Standard structure as per the DU guidelines. The dates were common across the campus for each stream of examination. and three hours were given for each of the exams. We had semi annual symesters and end results were consolidated on annual basis.

Faculty

5

As stated earlier, We had the best of faculties with a excellent experience and high qualification. They were friendly enough to support you out of the regular class hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

The placement is quite good the percentage of students is not same always it changes but only those students with proper knowledge, experience, skills get good placement. There is a proper placement cell for this which is very active. Prepare for government exams (SSC, UPSC, etc.) Go for higher education (PG, B.Ed., MBA, etc.) Enroll in skill-based or professional certification courses outside college

Placement Experience:

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
