Entrance Preview
I got admission in this college on the basis of percentage cut off. I got selected in 2nd cut off list. Before opting for this course I gave various entrance exams for Medical and Pharma. But as I did not get college of my choice i opted for the microbiology course at delhi university.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum covers vast areas from plant biology to animal biology and from molecular to cellular level. All our subjects were majors which covered biochemistry, Immunology, molecular biology and varied areas of microbiology. The curriculum was very interesting and vast which clarified my basics for research.
Internships Opportunities
The internship was to different scientific research institutes like IGIB, New Delhi, ICGEB, New Delhi and AIIMS, New Delhi, where students can have good exposure if research techniques and experiments. No stipend had been provided by the research institutes.
Placement Experience
I had been placed as junior research fellow with a stipend of 10, 000 per month at Tata Cancer Research Institute (ACTREC), Navi Mumbai. I applied to different research centres but I got selected at ACTREC. The stipend had been offered as per govt. rules.
College Events
We organized microbiolgy fest where all colleges from delhi university were invited. Speakers from different fields of plant microbiolgy, cancer biology and animal sciences were invited. In cultural festivals renowned celebrities of bollywood like mika Singh were invited. The cultural fest always took place at a large scale and students from delhi univesity came to attend the fest.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure was very nominal. It was around Rs.1000-2000 per year. The fee structure only covered the Tuition fee, college maintenance and infrastructure. No extra fee was asked for other thing as everything was government aided.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college used to provide scholarship for the meritorious students though i don`t know the names of the scholarship. College fees being nominal so loan was neither required nor provided.
Hostel Facilities
The college did not provide any hostel though PG`s were available. PG`s use to charge Rs. 2000-3000 per month. Fooding was separate with around 3000 per month. So overall it was Rs. 4000-5000 per month. PGs provided all facilities wifi, 24 hrs water and electricity supply.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumini network is good. An alumini meet had been organised recently by the college. There is a very ambient junior and senior interaction. The relation between juniors and seniors is well knitted. Iam still in contact with many of my juniors and seniors.
Exam Structure
The exams were tough and more subjective. Written exams involved lot of writing, however, practical exams were more easy going. The only difficult part during practical exams was the questions asked by external in the closed room.
Faculty
The faculty was very hard working and motivating. In the limiting conditions of the college infrastructure they tried to push the boundaries and provided us with best they can in terms of organizing microbiology meetings, providing exposure to different scientific talks of renowned scientists and planning scientific trips. They gave us good practical knowledge of microbiology through different experiments designed by them. Overall the faculty was too good and encouraging.
