Review of IIT BHU from perspective of a 1st year student

I love my college and this holy city of Kashi. Ganga is their if you feel low and their are chants coming from each corner as city is full of temples. Many tourist spots are here. City is full of positive vibes. Only IIT where motor vehicles are allowed. Great perk. Isn't it?

Labs are excellent. Classrooms don't have ACs but teaching hrs and flexible so your energy can be focused on self study and other stuffs of your interest. Course curriculum is a little bit out dated for electrical but more than enough to land you in a high paying job. There are two types of exams each semester along with quizzes and assignments. One is mid semester exam and other is end semester.

Our college is among top in terms of job packages and internships. Big MNCs come in campus to recruit students and pay heavy amount. According to some sources, last year highest package offered was ?1. 5 crores per annum. Average package revolves around ?20 to 28 lakhs pa. Internships in electrical are nice. Last year minimum pay was ?20k per month and highest was ?2lakh per month. Average internship pay was around ?1lakh per month.

There are 3 major fests. Technex, Spardha and Kashiyatra. All have their brief history as the college is 100 years old. Then as we are the member of IIT fraternity, we enjoy outfests and inter IIT competitions. Participation level is highest in northern India due to physical features of city. Great prize money is in funds and notable artists come in fests.

Fee is a little bit expensive. But their are different scholarships and fee waiver for economically backwards and SC/ST. I'm a general male student with good family income. I pay around ?3lakhs per year for academics and ?24k per year for accommodation and food expenses.

Loans can be availed from banks as college is reputed. Also college provides scholarships to general EWS students and SC/STs. Their are much more fee waiver which are announced through mass mails. So you can access them here.

The extracurricular activities are the main thing a student does to relief their stress. These college take cares of that. There are clubs like Dance, Drama etc which are active throughout the year and also manage events for members. Many sports ground like Basketball, Volleyball, Handball etc.

Hostels are very very good but a little bit old. 3 people share in first year then 2 persons per room. LAN facilities are there along with wifi which is unlimited. Washrooms are cleaned daily. Room are spacious. Lush green hostels

Yes. Alumnis come here for meets and fests. They help college gymkhana economically by funding great amount which is used further in developing infra and other stuffs. Seniors are very helpful. They help in all ways to make freshers comfortable. No ragging here.

Teaching faculties are great at knowledge but can't explain clearly most of the time. Lectures seem boring most of the time but it's not fault of faculty. Lab TAs are chill and ready to mentor you if you are interested to gain knowledge.
