Remarks

Since it's a national student so like any government institution, there are some glitches from the administration side. There are delays in payment for cultural activities lack of funds to conduct events. Very less linearity in Late Entry. It is taking time to apply suggestion—lack of resources and equipment, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The learning is more practical. The curriculum is updated to teach one method and techniques to survive and grow in Industrial as well as Research fields. To better understand the industrial processes, Industrial Visits are conducted, and updated data is proved while studying the process or attending a lab to understand the real scenario and economics of the methods as well. Our college has a 100% placement record. The study material provided in the classes helps a lot in placements and GATE Exams as well. Yes, there is an Industrial Visit every Semester.

Placement Experience

5

Tata Steel, Tata Metallics, Vedanta, JSW Steel, Tata Bhushan, Aditya Birla, Reliance etc. For placements and Internships, everyone company may have a different procedure, but a general process is : 1. C.G./C.V. Shortlist or Online Test. 2. Group Discussion 3. Personal Interview Almost 100% placement record. Yes, Institute is very serious about getting us placed. We have a Training and Placement Cell that conducts Mock Tests, GDs and JAM sessions to get us prepared for placements and Internships.

College Events

5

We have four societies under Student Activity Center in our college, I.e, Literary, Film and Music, Technical and Sports. We have 60+ clubs registered under SAC for almost every Extra-Curricular activity. We organise four prominent festivals for every society, I.e. Roots, Nitrutsav, Innovision and Vriddhi respectively. Other than this there are other events like IMUN, Various workshops where students from other colleges participate in huge number. This year the foot count in Innovision was 1000+.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee Program for a General Category Student in the B.Tech program is around 95,000, the mode of payment is online and offline both. The college administration provides an online portal we can pay through it. The administration takes security fees. Yes, transparency in the fee-breakdown is provided

Fees and Financial Aid

No, the college doesn't offer any scholarship from their side, but a student can apply for different scholarships provided by the state and Central government based on the economic condition of the student. For economically and socially backward students, there is fee waiving schemes.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is delightful. We have a gender ration of 1:8, I.e. one girl per eight students. We have thousand-acre campus having great hanging out places. Cultural diversity is outstanding here we have students from every part of the country and African Countries, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan etc. The environment is very healthy despite so many differences based on locality, culture and language we all live in peace and harmony. There has been no case of sexual, racial etc. abuse has been reported yet.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes, I live in a hostel. In the first year, the quality of hostels is not good. Rooms are small and old. Students get a different hostel in the second year, which is better. Boys get single rooms in the third year, and girls get separate rooms in the fourth year. Hostel fee along with mess fee is around Rs. 25,000.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors in college are like guardians. They have taught and are teaching a lot to us. They transfer their technical skills and life experiences to their juniors, and the chain goes on. We have Institute Counselling Services run by senior students in our institute which mentors the first-year undergraduate and postgraduate students with their Academic, Socio-Culture, Economic and Emotional issues. As a part of ICS, I can tell that it has helped a lot in shaping our college lives.

Admission

I gave JEE Mains and then based on my rank and choices filled in the portal I got Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in NIT Rourkela through CSAB. To get a seat in Undergraduate program in NIT Rourkela one has to give JEE Mains and score a good rank. After that, they have to fill choices keeping NIT Rourkela choices at the top in the portal and then wait for the results.

Faculty

3.5

There are 17 lecturers in my department, and their average age is 30-34. Every faculty has done a PhD in their respective fields. There are Professors, Assistant Professors and Associate Professors. For every Course in our curriculum, there is a specialist professor for theory and practicals both. Their clarity and concept in the subject are exemplary; we get to learn a lot from them. Almost every processor in our department has a lot of published research papers in their name. Some of them have published 50+ research papers, and some of them have worked previously in the Steel Industry.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
