Evergreen memories

I scored around 15k rank in JEE and was looking for a well known engineering college where I could opt for my favorite subject CSE. I came to know from seniors that BCET had well infrastructure with good culture and thus I selected that college.

A student can choose from wide range of courses like CSE, IT, EEE, ECE, AEI, BT, ect. Apart from B.Tech, other degrees like BBA, BCA and MBA are also done here. The course is as per WBUT norms.

This is mainly a private engineering college and does not offer many organizations where you can get stipend. I did my internship with my friends in a IT company.

I passed out in 2008 and placement was not good in that year. Only a few reputed companies like TCS, Wipro BPO and Tech Mahindra came for on-campus recruitment. TCS absorbed 40 students from various streams with 3 lakh package. Other companies took only a few students. A few were placed by pull campus system and most of the students were job-less at time of passing out.

College fest was celebrated every year and there was no limit for participation. If anybody was interested then he or she could play a role in drama, or could sing, dance not only in fest but also in different event organized in different occasions.

Under West Bengal university of Technology most of the college has same fee structure. In 2004 our tuition fee was 17k per semester which was feasible .

I did not avail loan facility, though a student could take loan for studying but I hardly knew anybody who took that.

Campus life was good. No discrimination was there for any cast or economic status. College arranged seminar on different topics where students could learn many things. We use to participate in group discussion and like usual number of boys was more than that of girls.

I stayed all the 4 years in hostel. Every room was shared by two students. Room condition was good. We were provided only vegetarian food for eating. Hostel fee was 11k per semester.

The schedule was comfortable, a few classes then a lab. Internal exams were taken out twice before any semester exam.

Many faculties were well qualified and used used to do their job sincerely but some were not as good as them. Students must have to take responsibility for their own study.
