Remarks

Management should focus on students overall growth not only on studies.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

As a b.tech course the course curriculum and the exam structure is relevant as in India all most all b.tech colleges follow it in the same way. Projects, assignments, case studies will make the student more knowledgeable person in and out. Moreover there will 8 semesters in the 4 years course to complete which will have 6-7 subjects each semester according to student's stream.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement is 60-40 i would say. If you are in non core departments like ECE, CSE, IT then 80% chances are there that you will be placed. But about the core departments which are Civil, mechanical and electrical most of them opt for GATE exam (plz google) for higher study, but some of them can secure jobs also from campus.

College Events

5

Jeclat - cultural fest - it will continue 7 days this the biggest fest of our college Sristi - technical fest- it will continue 5 days, many other colleges come and participate in it. Swaraswati pujo, biswakarma pujo, maha shiv ratri, holi, inter college cricket tournament, inter college football tournament, video games tournaments like pubg, fifa etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is feasible as it is a government college. For core departments the fees are very less only around 2000rs per semester and for non core it is almost 10000 per semester. Which includes all the other things like tuition fees, library fees etc. But if you take hostel then that charge will be explicitly encountered which also 2000 per sem.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes it offers. If your family income is less than 2.5 lac per year then the college will give you scholarship as Full fee ship or half fee ship. Which will result in deduction on your semester fees.

Campus Life

4

Gender ratio is not that good as not many girls choose to do engineering but it is better than many other. About campus, the campus is almost 163 acres lots of space to roam and the give yourself the leisure and entertainment as the way you want. Sports, dance, singing, nature, trekking different clubs are there to indulge with students

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes, we have hostels for both boys and girls. There are 4 boys hostels and 1 girl's hostel. Girls hostel can accommodate maximum 500-600 girls at a single time. Boys hostels are also same. Rooms are good, 2 person each room fan light study table chairs will be provided. Food is also good.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is very helpful, just students have to make their contacts, for jobs and other related issues it will hepful.

Admission

To get admission in JGEC(Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College) one has to give an exam called WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) and has to get a rank within the range of 7k-8k. After that the the student can select any b.tech stream for his/her degree.

Faculty

4

All the faculty of JGEC are have come through public service commission exam, and they are one of the best the country. But as far as my understanding is concernen I don't like their teaching style(personal view). Online classes, project work and most importantly laboratory experiments will be very helpful for the students to understand their areas of expertise.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
