Remarks
First, when I set a mind about pursuing BCA, my first choice was to try and find colleges in our area/district that offer BCA & have a good reputation. Also for many like me, course fees are an important factor while considering colleges to join and here at Rocks (Roland institute of computer and management studies), the fees are really quite affordable compared to outside colleges. In Berhampur itself Many colleges out there like imperial & presidency college offer the same curriculum with nearly or for a little higher fees but in comparison of all other categories from teaching staff to lab facilities to the sincerity of lectures is probably best.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose for BCA because I wanted to pursue an IT career, and in compared to B.Tech in Computer Applications it has 1 less year which will give furthermore time to pursue my Masters in either MBA/MCA. Here in Ricms, only BCA is provided with each year having 60 students so faculty & student ratio is 36:1. All faculty members have completed their masters in either MCA OR MTECH. And it holds 3 internal exams each year, which are quite easy to succeed.
Placement Experience
No, on-campus jobs are offered here however in your 3 years from August/September you get an invitation for off campus interviews for different it companies like Wipro or TCS. You can be referred by the college to another college campus too for options for their campus job fair. However, it is suggested for going for either MCA / MBA to get more opportunities and highest package.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are quite affordable here compared to all colleges in Bhubaneswar like cities. And all otherwise colleges in the district have either same or higher fees module. For the first year, the fees are 28,500 and then 24,500 for others. And fee hike is not that frequent here. No scholarship provided by the college, but you can apply for government scholarships from college.
Campus Life
Not specifically any tech fest is held here, but as earlier mentioned other colleges from same charitable trust in name of Roland only offers you to participate in their championship competition. Here annual function & farewell is held in the month of March for every outgoing batch. The library is not good in infrastructure but has enough books & question bank to cover your all years.
