St Aloysius College Mangalore Review

St Aloysius is a very well known and reputed college which is in practice for many years. The institution has a set of efficient lecturers and professors, who are always available to help out the students in their academical matters. Besides academics, the institute also gives the students a great platform to engage in extracurricular activities and showcase their talents. The infrastructure of the campus is also very well built which includes different buildings for different courses, various grounds for the various sports, halls and auditoriums for other functions, and all the other required facilities. The only con is that the number of seats available in certain courses are limited and gets occupied pretty fast. So, you will have to get yourself enrolled as soon as possible. However, if you have a good percentage in your previous examinations, you have a better chance for getting enrolled.

As I was always interested in numbers, I felt the combination of Statistics, Mathematics and Economics would be a good fit for me. This is a new course which the college had introduced 3 years back and has great scope. The institution has a set of very efficient lecturers and professors who are always available to help out the students in academical matters. They are very well versed when it comes to subject knowledge and the faculty: student ratio approximately is around 25:1. The courses are based on 6 semesters, each semester having 2 internal exams and 1 external exam. The marks of all exams and assignments are added to get your final score.

I have not personally attended any campus interviews because I had decided to pursue higher studies after finishing my degree. But I do know some of my friends who have got jobs from the campus interviews from companies like L&T for packages of around 15000 per month. These were the average students with average marks.

The college's fees structure is reasonable, considering it is a private institution providing all the facilities and opportunities to the students. There are various scholarships available as well to the students. They can avail the scholarship if they are eligible for it by filling the form available from the office and submitting it to the office. The institution also gives you the opportunity to appear for various job interviews which takes place in the campus itself which usually happens in the final year of your course. The terms and the stipend of the job depend on the various companies.

The college conducts various programmes and functions throughout the course which gives the students the real-world exposure. If I had to name some of the major fests, we have a 3-day fest which includes 'Spinout' for BBM, Imprints for BSc, Artbeat for BA, Acme for BCom, Composite for BCA and Astitva for cultural. The institute has a wide library which gives the students access to all kinds of books and study materials they require for their academics. The institute also conducts various competitions for sports and other extracurricular activities which improves the talents and gives them a chance to prove themselves. There are also various clubs run by the students for the social welfare as well as student welfare which includes heritage club, drama club, commerce association, Hindi sangha, red cross etc.

The admission includes a personal interview with the Principal of the College. It is a very short and personal interview and requires no preparation.
