I took admission in Chemical Engineering and Technology at IIT(BHU), Varanasi after securing 10735 (1035 OBC-NC) all India rank in IIT JEE 2012. I preferred this college over others because it belongs to the category of old colleges which one can get through IIT JEE exam, had just got the tag of IIT (earlier it was IT-BHU) and was in my home town.

The course structure is designed very carefully in such a way that each student can benefit most from it. Those who want to sit for job as well as those who want to go for further studies benefit from this type of course structure.Most of the teaching staff is good and confident.

During my time very few companies came for internship but now more companies come, one of our professor got internship for me and many other friends. The students who get internship through on-campus visit get stipend in various range like HUL offered INR 1,50,000. I did not receive any stipend for the internship but the company provided excellent quality lodging, fooding and transport facilities.

Most of the student who want to take job get placed.Companies will come with job offer in the month of December, so most of the student are not placed till now (except for students who got pre-placement offer during internship).

IIT (BHU) Varanasi celebrates many event distributed throughout the year.Spardhar is the biggest sports fest of north-India. Kashi Yatra the cultural fest. Technex Tech Fest. And there are many other events which take place from time to time and during various festivals.

Fee structure for my batch is very low. But the new fee structure is same for all IIT and is approximately INR 50,000 per semester. Fee in IITs is lowest you can get for any engineering colleges in India. This fees includes tution fee, medical charges and hostel charges. Mess charges are separate. Fee is to be paid at the start of each semester, so this way it is quite feasible for students.

College has a branch of SBI inside the campus which offers loan.There are few scholarships which are based on performance of student and some others which are offered by the state or central government.

Gender Ratio is very less 1:10 or 1:20. Campus life is good. We celebrate every occasion inside hostel.There are many inter-hostel sports events. Many technical and e-sports events also take place.Labs are also in good condition.Festival of every religion is celebrated with same spirit and enthusiasm. There is no discrimination among students based on cast, religion, gender, race, or ethnicity etc.

Hostel rooms are some, what small for two students in one room , but new hostels are being constructed. Electricity is available almost 24x7. Water coolers and geyser available. The college fee includes hostel charges and every other rent related to hoste

Alumni network of IIT (BHU) Varanasi is really good. There are many interaction sessions of alumnus with the present students Many of them offer guidance to the students.

Exams are conducted in three phase: Class Test 1, Class Test 2 and End-Semester Examination. Teacher may also hold some marks for assignments, quiz or surprise tests etc.All exams are conducted within the institute (no external exams like other colleges).
