Enjoyable Days of Life

The college has been well management by staffs and principal. We have got all our needs fulfilled and the management takes several steps to improve the college facilities and maintain the same at a great level.

I have joined through State Government Entrance Exam under the colleges affliated to Anna University, Chennai. I have got cut-off score of 164. I have opted for Government college of Enginnering, Salem for its being reputed institution and very old institution nearly about 50 years. Also nearer to my native place.

Course Curriculum is very interesting and we learned a lot in our practical experience. One of the memorable subjects in our elective is Architecture. We still remember the classes we have attended.

During our college days, one of the in-house job training was at a Nuclear Power Plant at Kaiga where the construction of cooling Tower and Pump house for Nuclear Power Corporation of India. The main contractor was M/s. L&T ECC Division, Chennai. We have a memorable experience and it was remote location where we have to travel 18 kms daily. We have got good practical experience. We doesnot have stipend but we have got scholarship as per the community. I have got about Rs.4,500/- per year

Our Colleges have excellent placements. Since, it is a Government Institution, we nominated our class representative as a co-ordinator and we helped him for preparing brochure for our college and our placement officer guided our co-ordinators for issuing brochures to different companies. Also, we ourself organised for training of our colleagues for preparing and training for interviews. We collected some nominal amount for organizing interview and incidental expenditure during the time of interview of companies. Out of 57 students, 53 students have got placed in different companies and I have got offer from L&T ECC with a package of CTC of Rs.2.50 lacs per annum.

Our colleges have vsarious events including department functions like Technoblaze, Hostel Day functions, Independece Day, Sports days, etc. We have enjoyed the funniest part of the celebrations and being remember-able was the farewell day celebrations.

The fee structure for college is about Rs 10,500/- per year which is feasbile compared to other private colleges which is expensive. Some of our friends got study loans from banks for paying fees. Hostel fees were about Rs. 3500 per year.

We have availed scholarship for community wise and study loans for reputed banks also. I have been provided with scholarship of Rs. 4,500/- per year which has been very useful for our project work and semester exam fees.

We have several extra curricular activities and we have enjoyed in participating competitions even though we doesn't win prizes also. We have sport tournaments, district tournaments. We have good infrastructural facilities for sports and games and we have enjoyed the fun in playing the games.

Hostel facilities were good and we have sharing rooms upto 3 years and private single room for final year. We have good atmosphere and we enjoyed our hostel experience including the nights we have spent for night shows in nearby city. Mess was separate for every year and we eat in common plates and mess cost was affordable with maximum of Rs.600/- per month of sharing basis.

We have a good alumini network which is very effective and functional in the growth of the college and community. Alumini helped students to get their placements and have gathering. Our alumini meets every year on second sunday of August every year and we ususally meet and have great experience on that day.

The Exam structure was 100 marks. Internal marks -20 and External for 80 marks. Exam will conducted for 100 marks and will be converted to 80 marks. Structure - 10 descriptive questions of 10 x 2 = 20 and detailed question for 5 * 16 = 80 marks. Anna university will setup exam questions for its affiliated colleges. We still remembered the days we have worked hard for getting good score in exams.

The Faculty and head of the department were so co-operative and also encouraged us a lot in our career during and after the college. One of my remembered faculty is Mrs. Shoba Rajkumar who was the class advisor during our course period and also closely associated. All the faculty are well experienced and highly qualified.
