The Life of KGEC

The college is good in terms of college life. But it is moderate in terms of Infrastructure. It has to work more on improvement of placement. The hostels are very much active here.

In B.Tech there are 8 semester exams and 4 continious assessment in each semester, In M.Tech it is 4 and In MCA it's 6. The college also offers Industrial trainings and research affairs. Many of it's students got placed in various MNC. College also offers self development classes. Various clubs of this college also helps the students for extra Curricular activities like Shutterbug-KGEC, Elysium, Riyaz etc. The college also publishes an annual research journal, named, Reason - A Technical Journal, since 1999. In 2011, International Standard Serial Number (ISSN 2277-1654) was allotted to this journal. The journal articles are freely available as OPEN ACCESS in the website, www.i-scholar.in/index.php.RTJ www.i-scholar.in/index.php/RTJ.

About 80% students got placed every year. In the recent year the highest package in on campus drive was approximately 10 LPA and the lowest was about 3.4 LPA but in this year 3 students got placed in Google,MICROSOFT and Amazon respectively.many students got off campus placement offers. The top recruiting companies are TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Go speedy go, Hitachi, Kreeti, Woods, Flakert, Bengal Beverages, HPL etc. Most of the students got internship every year. Most of the companies ar IT based company but there are hardware company also. Generally there are two steps of recruiting process. One is Written test and another is interview. But sometimes it also includes group discussion.

The Biggest event of this college is it's annual techno management fest ESPEKTRO. which has two part one in exotica, the cultural extravaganza and Techtix, the technical one. Every year various bands and Bollywood artist came to this event and make it's a one of the biggest fest of eastern India. The college also celebrate Hall Days, Freshers, Fairwell Ceremony, Biswakarma Puja and Saraswati Puja.

The fee structure is feasible as it is a government institutions. It's also offers scholarship in tution fees for the poor students. Generally the college fees relies in between 3000-12000 per semester depending upon the course. Mode of payment is Generally demand draft, cash and multi city cheque.

Yes it's offers scholarship on fees. You just need to fill up the form and submit the required documents to student's section. You can get half to full amount of scholarship on your college and hostel fee.

The campus life is best in Kgec. The Male:female ratio is 2:13. In mechanical it is 1:65. Actually the infrastructure of our course is well developed. There are well-equipped labs, classrooms. We have a big library in the college but there are some problems regarding issuing the books and there are Wi-Fi system also. The hostel quality is average. In 1st year students have a separate hostel. Hostel foods are average. There is Wi-Fi connection in the hostel, canteen, medical facilities. We have well-equipped sports club. Newly designed bathrooms and cold water facility. In the departmental lab, A.C is there. The Students' Union conducts the annual Inter-Department Tournament, (AL-HAMBRA), which includes the annual cricket tournament, football tournament, badminton tournament. The Campus also boasts of about the full functional cultural clubs, i.e. SHUTTERBUG(Photography Cum Design Club), RIYAZ (Music Club), CHITRANK (Art Club), ELYSIUM (Dance Club), LITMUS( literacy club) and SPORTRIX (Sports Club). Seminars, debates, quiz, workshops, and exhibitions are included in the activities of KGECSU. The Union has a Science Club, an Astronomy Club, and a Robotics Club.

Yes. Each rooms offers bed for 3-4 students. The room consists 2 fans, wifi, lan cable, Cabards and tubelights. A student have to pay only 484 rs as seat rent and electric fee of the hostel. And average 2000 rs as food cost. It's also offers scholarship on hostel fees. The hostel of this college are best. The college has Total 3 senior hostels, 1 M.Tech hostel, 1 Junior Hostel and 1 ladies hostel.

Yeah there is an Alumni Association. Groups in social apps and accounts in Alma matter. Alumni meets are happened 2-3 times in a year. The alumnies grooms currents students for jobs.

This institution is regulated, operated and administered by the Government of West Bengal. KGEC is ranked no 10 in all India rankings of Top 100 Engineering College in India in 2012.As per the survey conducted by The Telegraph, it is ranked 5th best engineering college in West Bengal which admits through WBJEE. But according to opening and closing ranks in WBJEE, it comes just after Jadavpur University. The undergraduate students (B.Tech.) of this college are admitted from the WB Joint Entrance Examination (WB-JEE)which is very competitive in nature. B.Tech. courses have a provision of 20% lateral entry at the second-year level from WB Joint Entrance Examination for Lateral Entry (JELET).Also there are additional 5% seats that are allocated for Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme of Govt. of West Bengal. Similarly, the M.C.A. students are being admitted through the WB MCA Joint Entrance Examination (JECA). The institute takes admission to M Tech courses by GATE examination and PGET exam conducted by WBUT. The institute being a government one, has no management quota private admission facility for any of its courses.

There are around 2000-3500 lectures in whole curriculum depending upon the course. It has a strong faculty team with quality previous experience in reputed government technical institutions all over India. The faculties belongs to the age group between 30-65. Maximum of the faculties are doctorate holder and completed their studies from reputed colleges like IIT and NITS. The faculties use various props, TLMS, Animation to make the the learning more practical. The college laboratorys consists all modern instruments to help the students for better learning. The college also ha audio visual platform for teaching. The college also conducs various national international industry and research oriented seminars for the students where they are certified too
