Remarks
I would conclude by saying that, the administration deserves 3/10 & the college faculty deserves 4/10. Now, coming to college life overall, it would surely provide you one hell of an experience. In the end, the institute merely provides you an atmosphere, rest depends upon how you tackle life and the challenges therein.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is relevant, we were taught, how to research, how to read laws and interpret them. We were taught Political science, Legal History in our 1st year of college, which helped us to grasp the nuances and consequences of Law. However, the lessons given to us were not industry specific, we were rather put to usual academic toil in order to score marks. That was all. No practical experience by professors. However, the students used to take initiatives and arranged for moot competitions, which really helped us to learn the method of research, drafting and analytical skills. It provided us with an approach towarda a legal issue.
Placement Experience
Everything is student driven, institute takes very little initiative in terms of student placement. Like, they are too engrossed in the administrative politics. I'm not making excuses or venting out. This is the truth. Although, there were certain instances wherein, students were provided with internships and placements. Not denying that, but when one looks at the biggger picture, its 3 at best out of a batch of 140 students.
College Events
Parliamentary Debate is one of the events which is organised with great pomp & show. The entire colkege comes together to organize this competition wherein teams from different colleges from all over the country, we've had around 5 seasons of this Parliamentary debate. Apart from this CNLU PD, there were 2 fests organized, wherein a lot of activities were there and people from diff diff colleges came to our place. It was like a disneyland for 3 days.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Expensive. 200000 per annum, plus extra electricity charges for any cooler or Air conditioner to be installed by the student. Yes, the college provides transparent fee breakdown. The college accepts almost all kinds of payment methods, like cash, cheque, RTGS, NEFT, online cash transfers excluding wallet payment method and UPI.
Fees and Financial Aid
I availed an education loan facility from State Bank of India. I had to make my parents as guarantors, it took alnost 6 month for me to get this loan facility through and get the funds released. Thereafter, it was smooth. My mother being a Government servant, she had a salaried account, thus, she was made a guarantor for the facility. The interest was 11% per annum, payable in 7 years after I graduate.
Campus Life
College was fun in toto, and that is why I gave this review, the title of a Paradox. The college, was not the best institute we could have had. However, we got a bunch of some amazing people in that place. I am still friends with them, we are like a family. Apart from this, the college was a bit too judgmental. Also, we had parties organised by students on the last day before Durga puja holidays, Diwali holidays and Holi vacations. We would enjoy dancing till 10 in the night The gender ratio was diff in each batch, over all it would be around 3:1 maybe. People from all places, mostly UP came to study at out university. Also, we have this Debating society, DEBSOC, wherein debates are held everyday post classes. It plays a very important role in grooming students in public speaking.
Hostel Facilities
Yes. The annual fee includes the hostel charges including the food and lodging. The hostel rooms are spacious. Although, they are not very lavish. We have all the basic amenities. Like combined washrooms, water coolers and gym. We don't have a sports room anymore. Though, there is a room where there was a table-tennis table.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni base of the Institute is getting stronger day by day. We now have most of our alumni placed at good places. Though, asking help from them totally depends upon the kind of proximity you have with that particular alumni.
Admission
I cleared CLAT-2015 thereafter, I was allotted this college. I really had no option, as I wanted a National Law University, given my rank this was the best I could have had, however, due to financial restraints, I wasn't able to go to RGNUL, a college one rank above CNLU. One has to attempt CLAT, get shortlisted, and thereafter wait for the consortium to llot an institute on the basis of merit list.
Faculty
4/10 as the faculty was neither well versed with the needs of the industry, nor the faculty was creative enough. Like the lectures were not only monotonous but filled with their life stories most of the times. Many a times, professors would go on to toil students on that memory game of theirs. Like no learning at alk, just memorizing things. However, there were certain professors who were very creative with their teachings, their lectures were really informative, they knew what they were talking about. So it was 4 out of a bunch of 10 professors.
