Amazing Experience

I took MH CET and scored 153 marks. My dream was to pursue Engineering degree from some prestigious college. Somaiya being one of the best colleges in mumbai, I took admission in college through gujarati minority quota.

Curriculum was well planned and implemented effectively. All test marks are considered while giving internal marks. At our time exams were conducted by mumbai university. Now being autonomous institute, exams are conducted by institute itself.

No internship opportunities are offered by college. We have to search it on our own. Finding a off-campus internship is a tough job. As in engineering there is less break between two semesters, students prefer small duration internships.

Somaiya is famous for its placements. Around 70-80% students got placed in companies. If you want IT job you will definitely get placed. Accenture , infosys are the mass recruiters. Finding job in core mecanical companies is a tough task. The average salary offered is around 3-4 lakhs.

Somaiya college celebrate one technical festival ABHIYANTRIKI in odd semester and one cultural festival SYMPHONY in even semester along with some departmental festivals. Both the festivals are very big and students from the various colleges of mumbai take part in the festivals.

Being a private college the fee at our time was Rs 1,08,534 . The fee was some what high as compared to other college. Also there were separate library fees , sport club fee.

No such facilities were provided by college. There were Some Scholarships given by some private and non profit organization to bright students on the basis of their academic perfomance.

The college is very bad in maintaining alumni network. They organize reunion every year but the attendance is very low so it will give you a very little chance to strengthen your network.

The exams are very well structured. There were two unit test in each semester. One have to perform well in unit test to obtain good marks in internal examination. Labs are big and organised. Some times practicals are not taken on time. Completing lab manual was very hectic.

There were mix type of faculties in mechanical department some being postgraduate with very high work experience and some newly appointed professors. We can not fully depend on professors.
