Remarks

It's overall a little above average but the college used to be much better when I got admitted than it is today.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The curriculum followed by the college will be a little different from what we got because an year after our admission the college switched from BPUT to Autonomous university. The curriculum that we got is very extensive and covers all the important aspects of the subject. For the industry-specific knowledge our college has various summer courses and also takes the students for industrial visits.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement this year was quite good even though record for past 2 years suggest otherwise. The average package received this year was around 3.6lpa. More than 40-50 companies came to the college recruiting more than 90% of the students. The college adds some courses apart from our main classes to help students do better in the campus placements.

College Events

2

There are mainly 2 events that are celebrated in our college that are 1.Sankalp (Tech fest) 2. Waves (cultural fest). In the sankalp all the clubs of the college display their specialities while in the waves it is all about music, dance, different types of arts and all. The sad part is college doesn't conduct a fresher party. The good thing is you'll get a farewell party after the college ends. There are some other events like saraswati puja, ganesh puja etc

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college as compared to other private colleges charges quite less. If you're opting for hostel then your total fees for the year will be 120000 (tution fee) + 20000 (Hostel fee) + 3200*12 (mess fee) the mess fee is not calculated for the days on which a student is on leave so it is a variable fee per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

No I didn't opt for any scholarship or loan but my college provides various types of scholarships that range from as low as 7000 per year to full fee wavier

Campus Life

3

The campus life in our college is really bad. Although there are various extracurricular activities going on through out the month but most of them are quite boring. There are very few places in the campus where you can peacefully sit and enjoy or party with your friends. Even the rules about the in time for girls is quite strict i.e, 7pm sharp while for the boys it is a bit late that is 10pm.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

There are basically 2 types of hostels on campus and out campus (for 1st years). Even though most of the students are admitted to the campus hostel but some late entries who can't find a vacancy in the campus hostel are given the out of campus hostel but are shifted back to the campus hostel once they're in the 2nd year. There are 2 boys hostel in campus HR1 and HR2 since the HR2 is made latter the rooms are in much good condition but the toilets are in very worse shape while rooms in HR 1 are in bad shape toilets in the HR1 are given some extra care. The girls hostel is much better in the matter of rooms and toilets as compared to the boys hostel but that maybe is because girls like to clean their rooms on a regular basis while boys only depend on the weekly cleaning by the sweepers. And the food in all the hostel are equally bad.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors in the college are quite helpful. In the beginning they may seem like jerks but after spending a few days you will realise they're quite friendly.

Admission

Well I didn't apply for counseling after JEE mains as I was planning on going to KIIT as had secured a good rank (around 7000) but after few discussions on topics like fees and discipline my parents decided to get me admitted to NIST. Some other factors that attached me NIST were campus being out of city, beach in the city etc

Faculty

2.5

The faculties in our college are a mixture of different age groups some of them as young as 25-27 and some of them being as old as 55+. Most of the faculties have atleast a masters degree and some of the higher level faculties have Phd (s) from som really ambitious institution like IITs, NITs, IISC Bangalore etc

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
