Anonymous's Review On Punjab Engineering College University Of Technology - [PEC], Chandigarh

Before joining the college i came to visit the college in June 2017. I visited the department of materials and metallurgical engineering and talked the students already studying in this branch who were of different years so that i could get an overall information about the stream and the college. The survey was satisfactory like about what they told me about the training and placement companies that visit our campus. I had a word with one of the professors of this branch who briefed me about the curriculum well!

The course syllabus from start was apt and follows a proper order I believe which is perfect for the students! The curriculum is biased and has a proper set of courses which are in order which are generally relatable. We have industrial week every semester in which industrialists come and tell about the tradition that how the company works, what are they working on and market trends. We have industrial tour in our curriculum which is fixed just after the third semester!

I opted for Mahle Engine Components which is a core company and deals in castings of camshafts! I was shortlisted on my resume and telephonic interview! There are some companies which follow this trend also like taking telephonic interviews and resume shortlisting and others follow same the test and then interview.

There are generally circuital companies which generally visit in a large number than the non circuital companies every year! Generally the company visits are college and we are informed beforehand like 2-3 days before! Then we apply for the written test that will be conducted by the company and sometimes companies put up some criteria for even giving the test! The students shortlisted from the test will go from a GD and then there are personal interviews which finally decides whether you hired or not!

Our college has a common technical + cultural festival usually in odd semesters either at the end of October or in start of November. It is the Pecfest which is generally a 3 day fest. It generally experiences a foot fall of nearly 50000 people ever year , organised at that large scales. We have different student committees like marketing , publicity, hospitality, discipline etc. which are completely responsible for the fest to happen at this large scale.

There are many scholarships schemes in our college. Starting from the first scholarship that is the rank opener's scholarship which I availed in my first year. It is basically one year you have to pay only 5000 as academic fee not the full fee. There are other quota scholarships too. Then there are different scholarships for girls also

The sports facilities are quite well in our college! We have good number of sports both indoor as well as outdoors! We have sports day, generally in even semesters during first week of February! We also have inter department and inter year matches for different sports that we have! Our college supports well for inter college sports competitions too! Wifi facility is really amazing at our college . Talking about the equipments there are few which needs to be replaced as our not in working conditions.

Hostel rooms are not much spacious but are enough for single accommodation! A room is equipped with a bed , a cupboard, a table, and a chair! Apart from this every room do has a window for ventilation too. There are some hostels which lack in bathroom conditions as they aren't well much. Hostel facility is first for the outsiders and if the rooms are still vacant then they are allotted to students from chandigarh also.
