Anonymous's Review On Indian Institute Of Management - [IIM], Kashipur

When I completed my engineering, I was very much ready to work in my field before I decided to pursue MBA, but I wanted to learn more about the business aspects of my field. Therefore, I wrote CAT in 2017 and selected some of the colleges whose focus was more towards Operations. IIM Kashipur was one of the institutes that made my dream list. The location of IIM Kashipur is near industrial area of Pantnagar, which would give me enough exposure to business aspects through live projects. So, even when I was offered admission in IIM Indore (Mumbai Campus), I chose IIM Kashipur over it.

The course curriculum is reviewed every year to accommodate all new learnings for the students. IIM Kashipur follows a case based approach of teaching where students are taught using the cases bought from Ivy league colleges like Harvard, MIT Sloan etc. The course follows credit based system, and the first year is common for all students. In second year, students are given a choice of subjects according to their interests. There are many opportunities of live project from the companies, which gives enough exposure in the industry. I myself did many live projects with Uttarakhand local companies as well as with MNCs. I would like to mention Prof. Vaibhav Bhamoriya who is an outstanding professor, who helped me learn new things about agricultural business which is very much related to environment in Kashipur.

The college facilitates placement for summer internships. I was offered role in Bangalore based startup which works in SaaS based platform as Sales Specialist intern with a stipend of INR 20000 per month with additional benefits.

Most of the loans are given by top banks like SBI, PNB, Union Bank, CBI etc. at very low interests rates with no or minimum collateral. The institute also informs the student about various scholarship programs by the government. Administration is also very helpful in filling out these forms at time.

The infrastructure is one of the best things of IIM Kashipur. The Institute is equipped with radiant cooling which keeps all the rooms at the normal temperature in all seasons. The campus is equipped with Wi-Fi of speed up to 200 Mbps. The campus is one sweet heaven for all the sport enthusiast as campus has grounds for cricket, basketball, futsal, lawn tennis and indoor games like table tennis and badminton are also present. For the people who are health conscious the college also has gym for students with trainer which is available for free. One of the most visited rooms of college is its library, and library of IIM Kashipur boasts many online subscriptions of services like Gartner, Capital IQ, Bloomberg etc. The college has 10+ Bloomberg terminals which help finance enthusiast in their learnings.

As mentioned earlier, hostels are mandatory for all which are equipped radiant cooling to maintain room temperature at all times and each student gets their own private room so that they can focus on their studies. The room is also cleaned by the hostel staff on daily basis. The room has one bed, table for studying and a cupboard for storing items.
