Anonymous's Review On Punjab Engineering College University Of Technology - [PEC], Chandigarh

PEC is one of the oldest government college in India, heading to complete its 100 years in 2021. PEC is a big brand name and the quality of education truly proves this. There are improved placement scenario in the college every year, it is one of the primary reason I took admission in this college. Here are top companies to recruit the graduates at handsome packages. Also, the environment to study is great, internship interviews etc. The thing I like the most is the Pre Placement Training that college conducts in 4th semester . It is a great move for preparing one for difficult interviews and how to handle them. They introduce students from resume writing to hoe to handle interview questions.Another thing is the support of the faculty is great do not matter which branch faculty you approach all are ready to guide students at any level. I will honestly say that Metallurgy was not my first preference instead I wanted to become a civil engineer but couldn't make that, and because I was getting Metallurgy in college like PEC so I took admission in the course and now I am satisfied with my decision, developing interest in this field

Till now I am very satisfied with my course curriculum, the reference books are excellent containing quality content. We are always made aware by faculties about the new innovations in our field. Also, at the end of 3rd semester all branches have their industrial tour, a great experience for the students. We went to Orissa at the end of 3rd semester and got into some of the biggest steel industries including SAIL.Rourkela, Tensa Iron ore mines. My one of the favorite faculty is Prof. R K Mahajan, he is one of the great people at the college I ever met. He always use to say"What after B.tech"and this always make me think critically about my future.

Actually the internship interviews are in 5th semester, so i didn't have one till now

The placement scenario is improving every year. Each year number of companies come to campus for offering jobs. Some of them include Google, Microsoft,IBM, Infosys, Tata, L and T, Sandisk, Indian oil, ACC, Honda, Hyundai, Fiat,American Express, JP Morgan.

The campus Life is great here the greenery and the surroundings are too good. The technical and cultural aspects move parallel to each other. Each year PEC organizes one of the biggest Techno-Cultural fest called PECFEST. This fest witness a great number of footfall(around 45,000 last one) and the participation. This fest is for 3 days including one Star Night where college witnessed stars like Farhan Akhtar, Sukhwinder Singh, Guru Randhawa. A great number of activities organized by various committees including coding, glider making etc. Other events are organized individually by clubs and societies like MUNs by SAASC, we also have dramarics, music, clubs and technical clubs include American society of Civil Engineers, American Society of mechanical engineers, CSS, Astronomy and Space physics Society, Indian institute of metals, IEEE, Robotics. Students come up with great participation.

There are scholarships for the students for economic weaker section students. It is given as full fee waiver for the 100 students on basis of their incomes, I would suggest applying for it just after admission because in 2nd semester it is difficult to get. Also. their is full fee waiver for the rank openers for each branch openers separate for boys and girls. Branch topper of every semester get fee waived for next semester. There are also scholarships from the alumni on basis of CGPA and income, every year many alumni offer scholarships.

In addition to good academics college promotes sports too. PEC each year in April organizes Annual sports meet, and witness a number of participation from students, also events like Inter branch Cricket, volleyball and table tennis competitions are organized. Besides this college has a well maintained Gymnasium, football ground, Cricket ground, Atheletic ground. Wi-fi is also provided by college named PEC wifi, and what if i tell you , it has a great speed and you can surf so smoothly all day, surely one of the best things. Library is also well maintained we have 3 reading halls including 2 AC halls, there are sufficient amount of books for each branch, also at the start of the semester a book bank opens from where one can issue books for whole semester. The labs are also updated, by the time new machines keep coming, and lab assistants are also aware and helpful if one is interested to know and learn skills.

I will tell you honestly the hostel facilities are literally not good. Very disappointed by infrastructure and facilities. The rooms are not in satisfied conditions and washrooms too. College have 4 hostels for boys and two for girls. Hostels have single and triple rooms first semester students have to stay in triple rooms after which they can apply for single rooms. The Hostel seats are sufficient to accommodate students. PG is also available at cheaper rates but they are far from college so not a good option
