Remarks

PEC is One of the best university after IITs, has good placements and oppurtunities. The program is well defined and the entire semester i.e. 6th semester is the best thing about PEC through which one gets experience of the corporate world and can make clear decisions, we also have chances of Pre placement offer(PPO) and are then free in 4th year to do whatever one aims for, preparing for better companies or post grad. Hostels are also there in campus which also is beneficial. The placement cell works really hard for placements and internships and placement percentage has increased significantly. Besides other NITs, PEC is far better in terms of placements and its engineering program. One must surely try to secure admission here in case one could not in IIT. PEC also has good relations and reputation in companies which also leads to its increased placements percentage. Fees also is reasonable and there are scholarships available for girls and many more. Also Chandigarh city adds to inclination towards PEC, it has oppurtunities for learning courses like for Post grad, for GATE or MBA, good coaching classes are available. The clubs and societies in the college are also very motivating, they build confidence and one learns a lot from seniors, interacting with them and learning many more things other than what club offers. Though PEC has a lesser rank than many NITs and other universities, it is due to its infrastructure and hostels, but not due to academics and placements, they are far better than many institutions listed before PEC in the MHRD ranking. Considering PEC as an option for undergraduate is worth if you can’t opt for IIT.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Our course was fine, some subjects are there which only added burden and did not prove to be fruitful which in the meeting we had conveyed and the subjects needed were added. Industrial exposure is best as we have industrial tour and an intern semester in which we get the industrial exposure very well.

Placement Experience

College Events

5

Cultural, technical and management festival at PEC are renowned all over north India, they are too big and participation is huge. Pecfest held each year is known all over India and people from all over India come at Pecfest, it has technical competitions, art competitions, music and dance competitions, bhangra competition, many events, star night, edm night, glitterati and much more. There is also seperate technical competition held each year by IEEE and Robotics society other than Pecfest. Students from all over India participate in the event. PECMUN is also one of the biggest event held each year in PEC by the SAASC society in which too the participation is numerous. Pecfest is a big fandom and is awaited every year with great eager and enthusiasm. It is one of the renowned fest in North India.

Campus Life

3.5

Infrastructure is fine, not that good. Sports facilities are fine, wifi is fine, library size is okay, it is not that big, lab equipments are fine. Labs need renewal and the disfunctional components need to be replaced. They need to be equipped with present requirements. Classes are less lit and do not equip 120 students at a time in the respective departments, projectors are sometimes not working. Sports facilities are fine. Wifi also is fine, it works well in hostels too. Library is fine but not that big. Pec market is good and things are provided at reasonable rates. All the notes and books photocopies are available at the PEC market. It is at the centre of the college, providing ease to students and hostellers.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel infra is not up to the mark. Rooms are very antiquated and washrooms need repair. Also they are not spacious, as, three to four girls live in a room for two. For three it works fine but for four it is very tough. Maintenance needs to be improvised, cleaning washrooms and rooms to be made regularly and frequently. Mess food is fine, some restrictions on the quantity of food needs to be decreased and timings made more flexible, especially lunch. Hostel seats are sometimes few, which makes us live in fours rather than threes. For first year, it is four seated while in next years it reduces to three or two. Manager and warden are nice and sweet, they listen to us and take necessary actions which are needed.

Placements of this college is better than many tier 2 NITs . Students are eligible for placement in 8th semester. If we talk about the top companies visiting PEC, these are Apple, Google, Microsoft, American Express, McKinsey, JP Morgan etc.
