Ravi's Review On Indian Institute Of Science Education And Research - [IISER], Mohali

I chose IISER because I was inclined towards research from the start. All the IISERs have good infrastructure and other facilities are also above par as compared to the other Indian Institutes. One thing I like most about this college is the research facilities which are just superb. Its central research facilities include NMR research facility, Laser Raman and AMF facility, X-Ray facility, Atmospheric Chemistry Facility, SAXS/WAXS system facility, Small Animal Facility for Experimentations (SAFE) which are hard to find in most of the Indian colleges. Also, it has students from all over India and we learn about different cultures of India. All the faculty members in IISER are so open and supportive which is not the case in many colleges. Now coming to infrastructure IISER Mohali has a huge library to accommodate 700-800 students at a time, and 4 hostels each having the capacity to accommodate 350 students. Sports facilities are also good here in IISER. It has a huge cricket ground, a basketball ground, a volleyball ground and much more. It also has 3 canteens, a grocery shop, a barber shop and a bank so you don't have to go outside for your daily needs. One more thing I like about the Institute is its location. It's located outside of the city and you can have a good view of Shivalika Range from IISER Mohali in the morning.

The First 2 years are core years in which we have to study all the courses PCMB and after the completion, to 2 years we have to opt for the major subject which we can choose based on our interest. We are provided which enough research exposure. All the facilities are so open and supportive and it is hard to name any 1 good faculty but I think NGP Sir was good.

I did my 1st-year internship here in IISER Mohali itself and I didn't get any stipend for that.

There is no well-established placement cell in IISER Mohali and as far as I remember only 1 company (Dr. Reddy) visited last year for the placement and 2 students got select with an annual package of 600000 but they refused the proposal.

Campus Life is just superb here in IISER Mohali. We have combined hostels and there are no restrictions on going out of hostels anytime but you can't go outside of campus after 10:00 pm. It holds several cultural fests throughout the year and Insomnia is our annual fest. Our annual fest is not that big due to financial problems but you can easily participate in the fests and show your talent.

You'll get INSPIRE Scholarship if you're eligible and the eligibility criteria change every year but in case you didn't get INSPIRE Scholarship you can apply for another scholarship. college doesn't offer any loan facility and also it doesn't have any scholarship fund.

Infrastructure is just awesome. We have a huge library which can accommodate about 700 Students at a time. Sports facilities are also upto the mark you get a huge cricket ground, a basketball ground, a volleyball ground, a tennis court, a well-equipped Gym and much more. Wi-Fi facility is good in almost all of the hostels. Labs are well equipped and have almost all of the equipment that we need for our courses.

Hostels are compulsory here in IISER Mohali and infrastructure is just upto the mark. In the first 2 years, 1 room is alloted to 2 students, and then in 3rs years, you'll be allotted a single room. Rooms are not enough big for 2 students. You'll get 2 beds with mattress, 1 table,1 Bookshelve, and 1 almirah.
