Course Curriculum Overview
Electives start from third year fifth semester onwards few are cross departmental while few are related to specific department i took management sciences as cross departmental & DSP/satellite communications as departmental electives the course curriculum is well designed & thorough.
Internships Opportunities
I did my internships at research institutes though there are many companies which come for internships specially in the mechanical, instrumentation, civil & textile divisions. Earlier core electronics & computer companies used to visit to a lesser extent due to geographical location but now many NCR based IT & electronics companies visit average stipend during our time varied from 10 15 K per month for three months.
Placement Experience
Placement was decent most students got 2 if not more jobs from campus, almost 90% odd students get placed barring cases of dropouts for higher studies & entrepreneurs. Average package in 2008 batch was around 6 7 lacs pa some companies that visited were oil PSUs like IOCL & HPCL, NTPC, Sapient, TCS, Accenture, CTS, Eicher, Maruti Suzuki, Volvo, Seimens, Freescale, Havells, DRDO, Google, Mahindra Satyam etc.
College Events
College cultural fest is called Utkansh held in Feb March every year pretty big event with participation from colleges all over North India participation on par with Thomso and Rendez Vous technical festival is called Techniti & was started by our batch, participation was decent from colleges all over the region.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee for all NITs are regulated as per govt norms and is affordable our semester fee was 38000 then & expenses for hostel was around 2000 including boarding and lodging.

Very few scholarships available then however all banks give scholar loans most students who took load used services of SBI.
Campus Life
Campus life was very good I would give the credit of my all round development to my alma mater residing there it provided with ample opportunities to grow myself both intellectually and otherwise.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels of NITs are mostly standard, nothing flashy first year and second year students share rooms ( 3 in a room) all students reside on campus third & Final year students get independent rooms mess food is decent by the virtue of the institute being in
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are very helpful in most cases i was supported not only in terms of guidance & mentorship but also through additional notes and books interaction with alumni mostly happened during meets while being a student but now as an alumni myself we do interact on social media or in person very often.
Exam Structure
Exams are based on the semester system and are held every 6 months with mid term papers held in between the days are mostly packed in the first two years and are spread out with classes in first half and tutorials/labs in the second half third and final y

Most faculties are PhDs, First year faculty members are from various departments and are decent from an engineering students prospective departmental faculties are though very good NIT Jalandhar is known for its faculty of Electronics, Instrumentation, Me
