Remarks
I chose this college because it had nirf rank 5 at that time however it came down to 14 the following year. The other reason was fees. Being a government college under Delhi University the fees was minimal at around ?11500 per year. The College is a part of the South campus and has wonderful connectivity to all the major areas of Delhi with the bus stand and metro station just in front of the College and several colleges and the South campus within walking distance.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus was according to recently updated CBCS system. There were 4 subjects in Semester 1,2,5 and 6 and 5 subjects in Semester 3 and 4. We were a part of one visit to Central Pollution Control Board's headquarters in New Delhi. There are a lot of experienced faculties and also young faculties. The experienced faculties have great subject knowledge but their interaction with students is not so much. The young faculties with comparatively less experience are more interactive with students. Some of my favourite faculties were Dr Amit Mittal, Mr Ashutosh Meena, Dr Anil Kumar Rajak, Ms Priyanka Yadav.
Placement Experience
The placement cell is active in the college but since most of the students go for higher studies the number of companies visiting the campus are very small and most job profiles are for commerce students. Ernst and Young, KPMG and Deloitte are some of the companies that have visited the campus.
College Events
The Campus Life is the highlight of the College. There are a lot of events and competitions all throughout the year starting with the fresher parties, society auditions, departmental fests, cultural fests and also standalone competitions. Also the attendance critiera being at 66%, the students get the time to involve in these extracurricular activities. There are students from different parts of India from Jammu and Kashmir to Kerela and Gujrat to Assam. So cultural diversity is present in the college.
Campus Life
The college has a 12 acre campus. There's a lot of greenery in the campus with gardens and parks. The library is significantly big but limited seating capacity and the books are not enough for students. All the books were already issued by some students and the rest of students rarely get hold of books. There's no College hostel. The students opt for PGs nearby in Satya Niketan and Motibagh. The sporting facility is good, there's wifi in college but it doesn't work most of the time. The science labs are well equipped but the conputyer labs have very old computers an some of them doesn't even work also the size of few computer labs are very small and doesn't have a proper seating capacity for a whole class of students.
