Remarks

I'd say overall the college experience of mine was wonderful still I hope for the college to improve the curriculum but I cannot really expect them to do so since it is affiliated with Mumbai University so unless it operates seperately not being affiliated with Mumbai University I don't see any changes happening

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course curriculum is quite general according to me which covers in short almost everything that you'll see in a business environment these days although the main focus was primarily on accounts and the business management which according to me were quite traditional because having graduated and now worked in the current business scenario it is quite different from what the curriculum covers which I feel needs to be updated Ofcourse the on-campus placements happened but I think that only happened because of the Tag of a graduate from NM College although I still don't feel the packages being offered to a Bcom graduate are because of the knowledge secured through the course instead it is the general knowledge and ability to adapt that matters in the same Yes the college did arrange for a few industrial visits but they were quite brief and vague because it wasn't suited for every student in the college one of the industrial visit was to a high court hearing which for the students not pursuing Law is not very helpful

Placement Experience

4

Primarily Auditing Firms such as Delloite, KPMG, EY, PWC come to hire the students persuing CA course along with Bcom as an Article Assistant although they also come to hire the Students for different job profiles such as an accountant or for Client Relationship oriented Jobs Other Reputed firms also came for campus placements such as Wipro, India Bulls, etc. Recruitment process starts with making an application on a link that is forwarded by your college to be included in the campus placements as and the schedule of the companies to come for campus placements is then forwarded to the students the students are required to select the companies for which they wish to apply for placements and their CV which is prepared and submitted by them while applying for campus placements is then forwarded to the companies for which they wish to apply for placements then two rounds or three rounds depending on the companies are conducted the first being and aptitude test the second being a GD and the third being a personal interview each student has to pass all the phases after which he will be eligible for placement and then the company announces the list of the students selected I have done my articleship for 3 years but have not done it through campus placements

College Events

5

Umang being one of the biggest cultural festivals of NM College which is held on a huge scale with activities ranging almost everything that can be conducted including cultural arts sports etc. The college also holds a number of seperate other small events and festivals which are spread throughout the year

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college only accepts the fees through demand draft and the program fee was quite feasible although the girls were given a seperate fee because of the government incentives that are provided to them and the fees were approximately 10000 per year including the library charges and ID charges and all other additional charges that were charged The college does provide a transperant breakdown in the fee Reciept of all the Fees and Charges that are charged by them

Fees and Financial Aid

The college does offer some scholarship opportunities but they are generally quota based scholarship and sports scholarship you need to submit the required documents giving proof of the eligibility to apply for the same I did not opt for the scholarship hence I am not aware of the sum that it covers

Campus Life

4

The college campus is huge and filled with mordern amenities the gender ratio is however divided equally I'd say 50:50 the diversity of the students is also quite large with students coming from different parts of the country of different cultures and religions coming from varied economic backgrounds as well

Alumni/Alumna

The alumini network is not that good as you'd expect there is not a lot of communication on the same though and honestly I have not yet experienced any benefit from the network having being qualified for only a year but somewhere down the line it may prove to be helpful with all the contacts

Admission

NM College is one of the best colleges for Commerce Course which was one of the major factors that influenced me to seek admission in NM. I Opted Bcom because I wanted to pursue another course which required a lot of time dedication which I was only able to provide because I selected bcom since it requires minimal time for preparation. So the admission phase was divided into two phases one being opting through Quota schemes and the other being opting through general scheme the application for both was required to be made online initially and then once the online application was filled we had to submit the same at the college with the requisite documents After which the merit list would be announced by the college if your name comes in the merit list then you had to go to the college with a demand draft for the fees to secure your admission

Faculty

5

On an average every day 4-5 lectures of 50 minutes each were conducted in the morning. There are about 3 faculties that are allocated for each subject taught in the course and the average age of the faculty would be between 30-45 years All the faculties are highly qualified in their respective a fields having a doctorate or another professional degree like LLB or CA,etc. The lectures were highly educated in their respective fields having immense knowledge of the current industry practice since some of them also worked part time giving lectures in the morning and then working in the industry thereafter

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
