IIML:A transformational journey

IIML has truly been a transformational journey. It has given me an Ivy league education in India. Some of the opportunities that I got at IIML, I couldn't have expected anywhere else in India. I am really grateful to my alma mater.

The course curriculum is top-notch and is revised very frequently upon discussions with industry veterans who form the board of IIML. This helps the curriculum in being extremely industry-relevant and in line with what recruiters expect from fresh graduates.IIML through the course curriculum, lectures and assignments has given me the best education that I could have got in India. The whole learning environment is extremely good at IIML.

All top tier recruiters come to IIML for placements. IIML alumni hold leadership positions in all sectors not just in India but globally. IIML alumni have made their employers proud and hence recruiters come year after year for placements to pick up India's best minds.

Manifest Varchasva is the biggest cultural fest of the college held around the first week of November. It has participation from all major B schools and tech schools from India. Sangharsh which is the IIM ABCL sports meet is another celebrated event. Besides, there are multiple other events held throughout the year conducted by different clubs and committees.

The fee is roughly 14 lakhs which is extremely reasonable for the kind of return that you can expect upon graduation. It is much lower than some of the other B schools in India. The college doesn't charge any hidden expenses beyond what is quoted in the admission brochure.

I got SBI scholarship for admission in IIM Lucknow. It was a one lakh rupee scholarship which is given to the meritorious children of State Bank of India staff members. I applied for the scholarship upon completion of the course.

The male-female ratio is around 2 to 1.Campus life was perfect. There are activities-both academic and non-academic, happening all the time on campus. Anyone who wants to be engaged all the time will not be let down. In fact, there are so many activities that you won't be able to attend more than 30-40% of those.

Yes. I opted for the hostel. It is mandatory for every student to stay in the hostel as classes sometimes happen very late at night making it difficult for outsiders to attend them. There are enough hostels to accommodate every student on campus. All rooms are single rooms. Boys and girls hostels are separate.

Alumni are super helpful. They are always there whether you just want to understand their corporate experience or you want to get referred to a position that you are interested in.

I appeared for CAT 2016 and scored 99+ percentile. Based on my CAT scores, academic background and work experience, I was called for a written aptitude test and personal interview sometime towards the end of February/beginning of March. There was one interview taken by two panellists.

The faculty have a top academic background and several years of experience in the industry. As a result, the education that is imparted is not only grounded in theory but has several corporate underpinnings which the professors are able to convey to us through lectures.
