Remarks

College management is very lethargic and I would like to rate them 1/10. They will make you wait for many days for hard copy grade cards, bonafide, and any other official works. Otherwise, everything from college teachers to placement cell is awesome. You will fall in love if you get the chance to join.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is somewhat mediocre. You have to study some additional materials if you're willing to take GATE. However, the courses are organized and industry-specific. It's very much useful during the placements as well as industrial visits. Apart from the first year, no extra subjects you will have to study in your entire engineering.

Placement Experience

4.5

It's one of the best universities in terms of placement. Here CSE and IT students grab packages like IIT students. Other branches are also good. You can easily check our Facebook page for details in placement.

College Events

3.5

Srijan, convolution, etc. are the technical fests organized in Jadavpur. Apart from this many more events of cultural fests are organized which are one the largest fests held in Kolkata. People from various places come to see the events. There are singing, dancing, and many activities.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I don't think you can find such a cheap engineering college with high value all over India (Jamia Milia Islamia may be compared only). It's cost you only Rs 5, 710/- per two years excluding semester fees for all departments except IT. IT department charges Rs 30, 860 per year excluding semester fees since it is a self-financed course.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't applied for any scholarship since it's a cheap university (cost me around Rs 20000 for four years).

Campus Life

2

Since the engineering faculty faces a lack of female students, the gender ratio is slightly unbalanced. However, it shouldn't be a concern while choosing the college if anyone is interested in the course. Lab facilities are mediocre since it's an old university where many instruments are not upgraded. Sports facilities are awesome. Clubs are good at their work.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

No. I haven't got the hostel room as the university doesn't have enough room to accommodate all the candidates. The selection is based on family income and distance of residence from university. I'm living in a rent house. The PG rents around Rs 5000 - 6000. However, if you want only rent without fooding then you can avail it with around Rs 2000 - 3000. Fooding charges mostly cost you Rs 2500 - 3500. However, I will suggest taking only rent without fooding since you have to give only rent when you don't stay in a room.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, they are helpful except for a few ones. They give us notes, question papers, and also various guidance they give. However, it's your choice how you manage to make relation with them.

Admission

Jadavpur University takes admission only through WBJEE. Before 2019 there was no home state quote, however, from 2019, the university added a 90% domicile system for West Bengal students. Now the admission process is quite similar to JOSAA. Everyone has to fill choices and then seats are allotted according to rank. After getting a document verification certificate from reporting center visit the university on the dates given on their website. After the necessary verification of the documents, all the original ones will be returned except the document verification certificate issued by reporting center. They will keep a self-attested photocopy of the documents. The admission occurs in July month. This university is one the best in India for engineering and its return of investment is awesome. You can check the Facebook page for more details.

Faculty

4

Most of them are good except a few. They are well-known professors outside the university also. Many of them are having industry experience. All the professors have done PHD in their respective fields. Some of them are not understandable because they can't teach us in a lucid manner.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
